Warroora Station - Maggies
Hi Guys,
heading up to warroora next week for my third time there.
the last 2 times i just had a dinghy and have stayed at sandy point and the lagoon. this time im taking my 5.5mtr plate ali centre console along with a mate bringing a 5.2mtr runabout.
launching at the lagoon is way too hectic for my liking, but the best fishing seems to be out from it. sandy point is great for launching, but usually the campsites are full and its a fair way out of the santuary south from there.
i was wondering if anyone had information about maggies (tried searching, but not much information.) i was thinking about launching at sandy point then mooring up at maggies. (i have a decent mooring setup)
ive had a look on google earth and it looks protected, but last time i was there when the weather was up it was a bit sketchy
has anyone stayed at maggies and moored there? or any other recommendations about other campsites or advice in general. thanks

Maggies
Id drop your trailer at sandys and sneak down for a look at maggies, theres a few camp spots but only one really good one right at the front. The hill out can be a bit of a bitch if youre not much of a 4wder.
As for boating, the passage outside is narrow and a bit sketchy but ok if low swell and carefully navigated on low tide. You have to go about 1km'ish south of the passage to get out of the sanctuary. There are squid, spanglies off the beach and some oysters nearby if boating is no go. Its a pretty good spot if you get the spot.

Eyes wide open
be very careful of the swell or it will be all tears no beers.
Heading up late august, 8th year love the place.

If the swell is up it really
If the swell is up it really rips through that bay, I wouldn't Moore my boat there, but if you go through that passage and then head south a bit along the beach down towards the next gap there's some better spots to Moore your boat up over night. Out the front of Stevens. It's a bit shallower and a bit less current. I've moored my boat there before. But if the swell gets over 2m's then things can shange there quickly. 3m swell and I'd be worried about my boat there and also getting through the gap.
