Water Tank Addition
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Sat, 2021-01-02 11:09
After finally diagnosing my fuel leak issue when filling right up I've got my poly fuel tank going in for repair to a small split around the intake.
The tank dimensions are 2145x510x110 and my tank recess dimensions are 2200x530x160 so I effectively have 2154x510x50 to play with so would I be best getting an addition water tank welded on top of my existing one while it's in getting repaired? Looking at no more than 50L just to wash down the kids after a swim etc without adding too much weight.

if you dont need fresh water
if you dont need fresh water i think it would be easier and cheaper to just add a deck wash?

Yeah got one mate, was thinking of Rob H's idea of installing an L-port valve on the deck wash intake so I can switch in between fresh and salt water and give the kids a squirt after a swim.

That'd be ideal but the 50L
That'd be ideal but the 50L ones I researched were all fatter than 50mm and I think it'd slide around too

Welding
Personally I wouldnt be welding a water tank to the fuel tank.
Just adding more areas for a potential issue or failure.
You wont have 50mm either with the thickness of the poly required.
Is there anywhere else you could fit one?

Now that I have an anchor
Now that I have an anchor winch my plan B is to run with a bladder in the cuddy cabin under the hatch. Might be the better plan as I can remove the extra weight when not required.

I was walking past a cafe
I was walking past a cafe yesterday and I saw one of those soda siphons but it had a cream like substance in the mouthpiece. Very strange indeed.

Amateurs
Sounds like they need to go back to the late 90's for a hands on demonstration of correct usage. On a more adult note, a bladder would do the trick for you, place it anywhere it will fit ( maybe even on top of your tanka de gasolina ). Nice n lightweight and easily relocated if need be.

Portable tank
Just a thought I used to take a 20 litre drum off freshwater and use battery pack operated camp shower, used to be plenty for showers, cleaning rods etc, didn't take up much room plus bonus if you got stuck for drinking water.

TRY
20 x 1 LTR water bottles use as drinking water or one bottle per day per person for the rug rats to tip over at the end of the day.
If your on rotto ,just send them to the showers, while you knock back a few at the pub.
Was always a good excuse to get to the pub "Just got to take the kids for a shower"

$20 shower
Go to Bunnings and pick up a can of black spray paint and a 15litre garden sprayer. Paint the sprayer tank black and fill with water ( and Epsom salts if you're a weirdo like Frosty....:) Leave it out in the sun for the day. When a shower is needed pump her up adjust the spray and awaaay you go. One of these lil puppies will clean four people with plenty to spare. Or you could go the whole hog and get Heliatos system a storage tank. Not cheap but when you're having a hot shower at the end of the day it's well worth it. Just need to work out an Epsom salts injection system.......
