Water Temp

Seems there is significant expertise on this Lowrance forum!
Apologies if my queries have been raised (and answered in the past)
I have a HDS 10 Gen1 in the flybridge and use a standard ( bought with the unit way back in the dreamtime) shoot thru in hull transducer.
The unit and transducer are great!
My question is, if I also want to read water temp, do I need to fit a transome mount transducer or are there options for thru hull transducers?
Thanks in advance guys

Yes, they are easily available
I find the CH Smith website a very good resource for info and an idea on prices. They can be found here www.chsmith.com.au/Electronics/Fishing-and-Marine-Electronics/Transducers.html

Transducers
in hull and through hull transducers are two different beasts, you can get temp on through hull but not on in hull !
My spots are so secret even the fish don't know about them !

Ah, good pickup
I missed the shoot through bit. Are you actually using a wetbox transducer, or a thru-hull ( ie, where the transducer face is actually outside the hull) ?

Shoot thru
Thanks fellas,
Its a shoot thru (inside) transducer. Nothing is on the outside. I guess this is what you term a " wet box"
In fact, whenI bought the old girl, I went to great pains to remove every thru hull fixture there was (speed sensor wheels etc)

If you have an existing NMEA
If you have an existing NMEA 2000 network onboard you could add a N2K temp sensor
