Was up at both Lanno and Wedge on Friday, report is as follows:

Wedge was very clean...crystal clear there was a slight NW wind and the south side was mil pnd still with a little pod of dolphins playing in the shallows.

Lanno and Northwards to the military base was pretty weedy.  The shore line was waist deep with weed in places though again due to a low swell the water was clear so you could see large floating patches in amongst the main weed beds....That said, it was reasonably easy to spot a clean patch to cast into and just keep the rod tip high enough to get beyond the weed washing up in the surf 

yea mate cheers. you reken  that weed will hit wedge by friday or you rekn it could stay crystal clear. going for a mully bash and taking the 50w for some sharks  hopefully we get something... did you fish there or just driving in ya 4x4

I did head up for a fish/4wd session and took a load of gear, there was a reasonable gutter going off the peninsula immediately out to the island where the waves pretty much ended but thought I would head further south and scout out any nice fishy spots (was around 8.30 by the time i was out by wedge so had missed dawn and was then planning to fish into the high tide.....the water was really high even at 8.30). As it was, I ended up seeing stacks of dolphins and just driving around.

The weed didn't look like it was working its way northwards, it seemed more likely that it was the last residual debris of the big swells recently and was washing up on the shore. So, my guess would be that if the wind doesnt pick up it should be clean, though Im no expert on the area.

ok cheers mate. really helping us out eh its a make or break the weed lol. dont wanna drive up there and see the beach jam packed with weed.

Nope not fished the hole south of the island, like I said it was mostly a reccie mission having only fished up there a couple of times previously. But yeah you are right its a real pain when the weed is bad. I've been up a couple of times when its been real weedy and beaches washed out limiting the accessible spots, though I have never blanked, I reckon as long as you can hold a bait in the water long enough there are enough fish to find it.
