Weird mackie flesh - anyone seen this before?
Picked up a couple of macks yesterday out with Whitey and when I was filleting one last night I found this weird section of flesh where it seemed to be breaking down to the point of it also eating through the bones. Once you got around it the flesh was all tip top and there was nothing wrong with it.
I wouldn't say the flesh was decomposing or rotten, it just looked like it was literally breaking down.
Anyone seen this before or know what it is? I assume the rest of the flesh will be fine to eat (we had a bit last night anyway and am still here to tell the tale).
The first pic below shows where it had just eaten through the bone, the second and third pics give an idea of the breakdown of the flesh. That white stuff in pic three isn't bone, just the sinew or whatever it is that you normally get in there.

Didn't see if there was a mark on the skin, Jamey could be on the money though. It was in the region where the gaff shot would have gone... I don't remember seeing a puncture mark there but then I don't recall seeing one at all so I obviously missed it because all the macks were gaffed.
The main thing that leaves me uncertain was how soft the bones were in the area, but outside of that the gaff makes (obvious) sense.
