Dean, a wetbox transducer can be a low priced 600w variable deadrise adjusted unit that is filled with oil. The more upmarket wetboxes and what i have in my boat is made out of F/G and it put into your hull and then flled with vegetable oil and sealed off. The transducer shoots through the oil and penetrates through your glass hull and it can get the return signal. The wetbox transducer setup's are great for upmarket units (say commercial) and they reduce the airation/disturbance from the transom but you pay for it too!
