Wet box transducer fluid

The refit on the big duck is coming along rather well. I've just epoxied n glassed a big get f@*#$#d tranny box into my starboard side hull and now I need to fill it with a suitable liquid. Antifreeze seems to pop up a fair bit , but being in this part of the world antifreeze is the last thing I can lay my hands on. Any ideas ladies and gentlemen ?

As in radiator fluid the green stuff, I stand to be corrected but pretty certain that is the case

Antifreeze coolant that is used in your radiator .
Do not water it down (straight)

Right one

Be sure to get the right one

Airmar recommends using only propylene glycol to fill the tank

Engine coolants tend to be made from ethelyne glycol and can cause damage to the transducer.

Make sure you check the make up of it before use.

I think I have a bottle here I can get a pic of when I bought 4 litres

Silkolene

I used Silkolene pro cool.

I got from SuperCheap (I think).

It is a propylene glycol. I mixed it 50/50 with distilled water but thats because i am tight ass.

I've been running distilled

I've been running distilled water in mine for around 6 months now with no issues. Will be switching to propylene glycol though because I'm worried about algal growth over time.

Propylene Glycol as recommended by Airmar. Can also get it from home brew shops, that's where I got mine.

Spoke to the supplier of the wet box and they said distilled water is the way to go . Makes my life a little easier as getting propylene in C'von was a little too tricky.
