What combo

Hey guys... I have a mate who sometimes joins me on my boat and has recently discovered that he enjoys fishing.. He wants to buy his own rod and reel to bring along next time.. I thought I would put it to you to possibly recomend a combo.... he is a big 30 yr old lad so size and weight is no factor... he was thinking he would prefer an overhead and had a budget of $200-300. We usually mess arround in the 30-40m mark targeting- well anything- but would like to heavy enough to troll for tuna and maybe fight a sambo from time to time.... we are in Rocko too so shops in that area...

go and talk to phil and mark at compleat angling and camping dixon road.....as a starter look at a penn powerstick with a penn gt 330 overhead reel....good starter combo.......i have had mine for years and had lots of fun fishing the back of garden island with it.and it should be within budget.......bbraid about an extra $75?

i would go with the 330
i would go with the 330 combo as well as a starter. we have had a couple for 6 years and are still in working order. most places you can get the combo for under $200 and that leaves a bit more for braid. give oceanside a call as i am sure they have them

Bottom fishing combo.
There is plenty to choose from out there.
Check out the Pflueger Contender combos, comes with quality heavy duty 15-24kg rods with ally reel seat and gimbal.
They come with a strong quality leverdrag reel which will be great for trolling.
We got these on Special atm, for $199. Plus braid and its well within his budget.
