What mid price Jig Rod?

 Hi guys,

In the market for a jig rod for my Stella 5000sw. I am going to use it for jigging Dhufish, Snapper and Small-Mid Sambos. I am not after crazy quality rods such as Ripple Fishers, Jigging Master and the likes, I am just after something of Okay, Mid Price Range quality.

I am currently thinking either the N.S. Magic Eye Torque or a Maria Steady Jigging.

The reel feels a bit heavy on the NS Magic Eye Torque and a tad out of balance.

The Maria balances perfectly and feels nice. I also feel I can put more power on with this rod. Only problem is it is heavy (not very compared to other rods like it but still very noticable compared to the NS).

Has anyone used these rods and can comment? Any other suggestions?

Thanks :)

Jigging Master

Mon, 2013-07-01 09:16

Hi mate, You can still get a quality Jigging Master rod at a reasonable price!

For instance the Ocean God 180 spin feels awesome on the Stella 5k, Has plenty of guts and uses quality components. We can do this rod for $359.

Another option is the Jigging Master Evolution titanium 200S, This rod is clasified as upmarket though not much morethan the rods you have mentioned already. These run a titanium weaved blank, Fuji Silicone guides, Rubberised Fuji reel seat and feel a million bucks. Will pull all Dhuies and Sambo's backwards. These we can do for a limited time at $579!

Feel free to come through the shop to ckeck them out and all the other jig rods we have.

I'm holding out for the Black Hole Cape Cod Special 150g rods to come out later this year. I'm going to build one myself for my Stella 5000. Can't wait! Might be a bit too long for you to wait too I suppose.

i own a magic eye torque in OH with a calslutta300d. its brilliant for dhus up to 10kg so far, and im sure of a bit bigger. i also own a steadyjigger150g with a stella4, the maria is a bit heavier and as a combo is lighter in the hand, it has mor balls as well. i rekkon any4000 shimano reel woud b great on that rod. magic eye is in the toy room, maria gets used every day...

hmm  since u already have a stella... might as well spend abit more on a decent rod!

Do some justice to your reel!

I find yamaga blanks a tad overpriced....

JM not bad... it performs quite well but .... its made in china.....  and for a rod of that price point.. it just dun appeal to me.

(JM fans pls dun crucify me... haha)

well it all comes down as to whether u want a fast or parabolic rod.

For fast action rods you can consider JDM brands like the Evergreen Spin Jerker or the Tenryu JigZam( ard AUS $500-600). or if you like some thing  cheaper ( AUS $ 300+) try out the palms!  really sexy!

PALMS METAL WITCH (scroll down the page, theres spin versions):

http://www.palms.co.jp/rod/palms-elua/en/metal-witch2/

EG SPIN JERKER:

Personally i like parabolic rods

Do check out the hots fake lez or the smith AMJ!

however if you want more bang for buck u can try the zerek tamers.....

another rod that I really like the Golden Mean sabel dance! or slow dancer! shldnt set u back by more than AUS 150
