What prop? 150hp Honda

 Hey guys,

A mate has recently purchased a Chivers Meridian 6.4 ali island cab with a 150hp Honda on the back.

At WOT it is reading 6500rpm. I feel that this is far too high?

The current prop is a 14 1/4x17 Solas SS 3 blade. Does anyone have a similar setup and are running different props.

I am thinking a 19 pitch may help.

Cheers.

or go up in diameter

WOT RPM for that model should be between 5000-6000 RPM.

As a general rule of thumb:

> One inch pitch increase will only drop WOT RPM about 150-200. So you would need to go to 14 1/4x19p as you suggested but still may not get below 6000RPM.

> One inch diameter increase will drop WOT RPM by about 500. You could go to 15x17p or 15 1/4x17p.

These guys are in Osborne Park and know their shit. www.propellers.com.au/

What is your load when

What is your load when checking WOT? Should be full fuel and one other passenger then you want to be able to reach upper end of max rpm range. If loading correctly and reaching 6500rpm I would go the 19p

I've got a Honda 150 on my 19foot Regent Viscount.

Stil sorting out my props and engine height.

With a 14.25x17 I got 33knots at 6500RPM. Far to high revs.

Tried 14.25x20. Got 37knots at 5600RPMs. Nearly where I need to be.

Tried 15.5x17. Got 36 knots at 6100RPMs. Slightly too many Revs.

The engine is one hole too low so reckon the 14.25x20 will be great once I raise the engine.

PM if you want to chat.

Brad
