What's my motor worth ?

Hi guys,
looking at upgrading my current outboard motor just looking for opinions on what my current motor is valued at, also if anyone is interested in buying it.
My current motor is a 2006 mercury 90hp four stroke efi, it has approx 600 hrs (to be confirmed) would be sold including cables and controls. Motor runs well the engine cowl is a little faded and could do with a re spray. It is the shorter of the two leg lengths I think they call that long.
Any input would be appreciated.
Mark.

If selling private you would
If selling private you would be looking at around the $4500 to $5500 mark.
If trading it would be around the $2500 to 3 mark if your lucky.
A friend in the dealer game recons 20inch legs are gold and sell quick as theres not alot on the market.
Im in a similar situation with a 75 merc 4 stroke with 1000+ hours. I would be interested but looking for a newer motor.

Thanks for your input paul
When I bought my boat I bought a new hull in 2011 but couldn't afford a new motor at the time but I always had intentions of buying a new motor down the track, now is that down the track moment.

you'll be far better off to
you'll be far better off to sell it privately if you can.
Get a reputable outboard mech to do a report on it especially compressions, so you have something to present a potential buyer especially if he is from elsewhere
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.
