How many were out crabbing on the weekend and came up empty ??
Bloody stinkin hot weather not a size bluey to keep for a feed.
Interested to hear those that got some and those that did not.

Went out Saturday
Got a gig Saturday as a Deckie, Nana,
set the crab nets out, cruised up stream to pull, Engine's throttle went. (acutally it was the plastic connection and connecting rod to the carb that fell off, bloody thing is held on with an O ring). Could only idle, so we turned arround collect our pots and headed home to strip and fix "one by engine".
Funniest thing was:- there we were, three blokes in a power boat being overtaken by 2 ladies in a canoe. anyway it has to happen, Guess Saturady was my turn.

penalties galore but never used
re my off topic rant about pots being nicked, I was amazed
To read in the worst orstralian about potential penalties
For anyone caught dicking around with drum lines set for sharks.
Why are these penalties - to my knowlegde - never used ?
A law that is never enforced erodes respect for the law:
......
Under the Fish Resources Management Act, interference
with lawful fishing activities carries a maximum penalty
of $10,000 for an individual and $20,000 for a corporation,
and a court can order compensation.
Unlawful interference with fish or gear carries a maximum
penalty of $25,000 for an individual and 12 months
imprisonment, while the penalty for a corporation is
$50,000, a penalty that applies to all fishing and
aquaculture equipment

Not sure
Not sure if your pots were stolen or lost mate, But i have have lost quite a few in the river and in the sound. Sometimes they just dissapear, it could be a shark, ray, or other critters that get stuck in them and take them for a ride.
I lost one right out of the middle of my string in the swan 2 weeks ago. I was sure another boat took it, but then they came up and had a chat. They were realy nice guy's and gave me a heap of info, i could clearly see into their boat and they didn't have my pot, and i was sure they didn't need to take it.
Just saying mate, many crab nets get messed up and taken by rays, sharks, seals and even dolphins. But true that sometimes other fishos take them. Thats why i mark my floats with my fisheries ID number .
Cheers Grant
