I would have had a shot if you have a look at the end of his spear the spear floppers are folded back meaning the spear wouldn't have stuck in if he shot it so maybe he was getting ready to have a shot and I wouldn't have need the boat ladder to get into the boat think I would just have rocketed over the side of the boat

Beam me up scotty I'm facing some serious shit here, that is a few serious moments there I think the GW was sizing him up for sure the way it kept coming back and appearing to me to be getting closer with each contact. A really great piece of video and a moment not easily forgotten. Getting back to the surface would have been a terrifying moment.

Having read some of these comments, I agree 100% this person was extremely cool under what we all see as She**it encounter, it is almost impossible to know what any one individual will do but he did every thing correct. personally, with twin rubbers on that gun, after it came back the second/third time, I would have cut the shaft free and tried my utmost to drill the big F***ker in the eye, as I would truly be worried about going to the surface. Unless the boat was right above him, a surface swim, then trying to climb out of the water with a tank on is quite hard. It is all very well to say ,stay in the boat but we all have our sport ,and how many people have a quick swim too cool off on a real hot day. or allow kids to swim.I am all for removing that size fish from any were near populations.

then maybe curiousity got the better of it, and then with the poking and such maybe got it a bit got a bit pissed off and would of had a go if the speargun wasnt in the equation? who knows...
because that first part it is moving quite fast.

There is a story going around down here that a diver ( not sure if free diving ) had a white take his salmon at Redgate. It buzzed him until he shot it and let the gun go....
