whiting offshore Rockingham

Just asking foe advice on the best water depth for big fat whiting offshore Rocko. My attempts so far over the years has only resulted in mainly smallish ones with the occasional keeper. I have fished both sides of the five and my best returns for numbers tend to be behind Garden Island, but not many bigger ones. Or is it more of a seasonal thing for the bigger ones?

they school in similar size
they school in similar size classes the 20m zone behind garden is good but you have to have a good drift, have a float with 25m of cord an few heavy sinkers ready, some days have to drift few km but when you find the big ones throw marker over an you can hit them hard
