who has taken a trailer over the pits?

hey all, picked up a trailer today from a FW members mate. perferct for what i need. but it has a section of two lengths of patio tube welded together(side by side) in the main beam, i imagine the fellas down the pits wont take a liking to this so most likely going to replace it. but with what? mild rhs? does anyone on here have any tips for what they ping you on structually wise?

thanks

Jim

If your gonna flog it then yeah, wire brush and paint the existing steel if its structurally sound i.e. not rusted through.

Hi JIM1

I had a 12ft Ali on a trailer which I had to get registered a couple of years back. The axle and wheels were pretty rusted so I gave them a coat of rust preventative paint, probaly should not have bothered because the inspectors did not pay any attention to that, what they did ping me on was that the towing hitch had to have it's towing capacity stamped on it, mine didn't so I had to replace it, also make sure safety chain is long enough, cannot use doule shackles to extend and make sure wheel bearings are tight, any wobble and they will fail the inspection. Hope this helps
