Tuning Furuno FCV 620

I recently installed a Furuno 620 sounder on the boat.

Thansks to those on the forum that contributed to the decision.

This now stands beside my Lowrance LCX sounder, and performs significantly better than the LCX when looking at the bottom reading (even with it all in manual). I'm pretty impressed with the 620.

I have seen on this and other forums talk of a tuning manual (other than the standard manual than comes with the unit.

Does anyone have a copy of this?

Can anyone provide any tips on manually tuning these units for bottom fishing in 30-60m of water?

The link below has some good info about the FCV585.  Some of the info maybe common to the FCV620?

Tuning the tranny is more

Tuning the tranny is more important than tuning the sounder. Depth, angle and placement all critical.

Yep I can vouch for the tranny comment John had mine a month now and still making adjustments , trying to get a clear picture at close to forty knots , is that too much to ask?

Grayzee dropped this link after I asked the same question not long ago , it was quite helpful.

Thanks Guys,

that'll give me something to play with next time I head out, and something to read this weekend while the wind is up.

Had the tranny working at 30 knots, but was getting a bit crappy anywhere faster than that. I will adjust the angle a little and compare next time I head out.

If you are getting good readings at 30kts

you are doing very well.  In a discussion with Taylor Marine I was advised to consider anything over 10-12kts as a bonus.
