This why businesses go broke

Bit of a rant. So I look up one of the main battery suppliers in Perth as I want to renew both boat batteries with my boat refurb nearing completion. Ok so find a branch in Bentley which is on the way home, great! So drops in there, this is how it goes: " G'day mate looking for a couple of these batteries" Showing the guy a photo of my 640CCA batts. "Hmm he says I've got the 620's or you have to jump up to a bigger battery, we usually have the 640 but out of stock" Me "Yeah, I deffo want the 640's" Him "Yeah sorry pal can't help you"

Oookay my mind is ticking over, he's about to say he can get them in but no nothing, I'm not asking that's his job as a sales assistant. So where's the effort to make money and business? Obviously very comfortable with his job and paycheck every week, not sure he realises where that's coming from.

Anyways I go to an auto shop just a little further down the highway, same thing no stock but "Really sorry mate but I can have two for you here first thing Thursday morning if that helps?" " I can offer you a $20 per battery discount for the delay"

Absolutely! A nice $460 sale for him and happy to make me  an earth lead up  then and there. Gee it doesn't take a lot  or am I expecting too much

See this all too often

Tue, 2017-09-19 16:54

See this all too often unfortunately.

Run a managed IT services company and am always dealing suppliers or clients who's current IT provider who just dont go the extra mile to help the client.

One i heard the other day was "Our IT compnay charges us double for managed services per month for our apple mac's machines because its not the standard platform they support" and if they didnt like it they could find another company, needless to say they are our client now!!!

Sounds like the old boys from Whitworths Leederville are now working in a battery supply outlet in Bentley.

Must be a bad store out of a good bunch. I've had nothing but brilliant customer service from Battery World in Balcatta and Malaga including after sales advice.

 Always got good service

Always got good service there. When I had vhf problems with one of their cheap standard horizons they couldn't of been more helpful. Multiple calls back trying to sort the problem. Got a good response from their supplier and organised a refund.

Service and price matching.

Tue, 2017-09-19 18:05

Battery World Joondalup. I wanted Optima batteries for the boat, online delivered were cheaper than their retail, matched the price, boom, sale. Used them for our vehicles. Great service. Unfortunately tards exist in every industry and are easy to spot. Sellers of product should never adopt an attitude of selling what they have on hand and instead providing exactly what the customer needs and deliver in good time.

poor service is the norm.

poor service is the norm. I've picked up approx 7 jobs in the las 6 months due to trades not showing up.

you need to go the extra mile in this economy or you'll be left behind.

Tue, 2017-09-19 21:02

Dollars to doghnuts it was Battery World Bentley that this problem was with. I've dealt with them in the past & the service was horrendous. Fortunately it seems to be just that one store because I now deal with the Balcatta store & Malaga occasionally & they have given me top notch service every time. I deal with Autopro a fair bit & AutoOne have never had reason to complain about their service. They always seem to be willing to go the extra yards to keep the customer happy. You really would think that these businesses would work out that repeat business is key to success & if the service is crap, the customer isn't coming back.

I would have thought that he would of called you into the office to say what you are doing is great.

I can understand him if you were wasting time talking about the weather or whatever but if it's business related he's lost the plot.IMO
