Windy weather in Exmouth - September stuffed?
Submitted by Oracle on Thu, 2013-05-02 00:10
Just trying to get some research and have mixed findings. Some sites say the wind is still good in Exxy in September and boat fishing and diving is great. Others saying, window is closed and shit house.
What have people hear experienced in the last year or two?
Cheers

May June and July would be my preferred months for up there. We did a September trip up and weather was pretty ordinary however we still were able to catch good fish but having said that we have done June trips and the weather was horrible. It's probably a bit of a gamble going up that time of year but hey you never know. Conditions could be perfect. One thing we always say about going up north fishing is you can be fully organised but you can't organise the weather. Good luck

I went in march and it was shit..... People that own the caravan park at yardie homestead reckoned December was the ducks nuts...... Nobody there and generally half decent weather.... Although I've been watching the weather the last couple weeks trying to get a trip to onslow in and it seems pretty hit and miss for the last 6-8 weeks where I thought march-April was the go up this way.... Barring late cyclones anyway....

I've been to Exxy in Dec and had horrible weather... It's a bit pot luck to be honest. Safest option IMO is middle of the year in the winter months.

equinoxial
Equinoxial gales start mid August, which is typically your south easters, ruins the gulf most of the day and blows out the west side apart from the inside. Then switches to the south west and you get a small window to get out in the gulf as it glasses off but your window to go far is pretty narrow. You will get a few good days in there if you get lucky, but more often than not its blowy and pretty strong.
