Winter Dunsborough Trip

Long time reader... 1st time poster.

I am heading down to Dunsborough for 10 days on Thursday and looking for some advice on some shore based fishing for a mixture of bread and butter fishing and chasing some tailor and sharks.

My plan is to hit up the Quinny jetty for some squid fishing at dusk and try the sandbars for some KGW and flatties and chase some herring around PP, the old Dunsborough boat ramp and Canal Rocks and try for some tailor (and stray salmon) around Smiths, Yallingup and Wyadup. For the sharks we are going to try catch some herring and keep them alive to send out later that night just around the rocks in old Dunsborough as it's walking distance from the house and we can have a few sips of a nice port while we do it but would love to see what else is worth chasing at the moment and where.

Would also like to know if it is worth fishing in the mouth of the Toby Inlet for black bream?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Of salmon still moving through (back run fish) and seeing as there are still heaps in Perth I would expect this to continue for a few weeks yet.

Not sure if there are many Tailor still around in the bay though there are always a few to be had on the west coast. Shouldn't have too much trouble finding smaller fair like herring.

Heaps of squid around this season with some big hoods among them (35cm+) Be careful fishing quindy jetty as boats have right of way over fishos and there have been 'altercations' in the past.

Cheers guys and gonna be chasing pinkies in my cousin's boat if weather permits and he's told me about the mulla hanging round Busso which is why we wanna throw out some live baits and see what takes them. There appears to be a big sand patch just off Canal Rocks over the bridge looking East . Any KGW hanging around in there and us it worth flinging a squid jig around there?

So far no good. Tried for squid from the Quinny jetty but the water was like pea soup. Tried a flick with a richter plug at PP  and no bites but guy next to me caught a chopper as I arrived and they were packing up. Guess just on 1st light is the go

Are still on the cards with some good numbers still moving though as MM said on the back run now ( PP , Castle Rock and Bunkers ( do the walk!) . Tailor are an option in the Bay , but as a rule generally do better just on or after dark with unweighted Mulies , love throwing lures at them but mainly do better on the West Coast side of the Cape (Swell depending) . Pinkies have been pretty good over the past week with some great fish being caught in fairly close , has been a lot of 49cm fish as well though.
Some reasonable Flatties have come from Eagle bay lately , but recon you will struggle with KG's from shore ( Prove me wrong!)
The wind looks like being against you for the Bay over the next couple of days but a night mission from Injidup Beaches could be O.K.
Swing through the shop if you want any more info.

 Cheers Habanaro

I've been into the shop a few times and you guys have sorted me out with a few things including my beauty of a new filleting knife. Awesome store you guys have there!

Tried Mitchell's Rock Fri night but the swell was just too big and I was casting into white water. Only luck I've had so far was some nice bullies in the Canal Rocks canal on the ever reliable Scumdog.  Unfortunately the Northerly winds and swell have been making it very hard to fish but I'll keep trying my luck.
