The winter tailor are in.....

went out this morning to a new spot near sorrento and came up trumps....
my partner in crime rob starred with one over 45cm and 2 over 50cm i also dropped a horse in the surf, all fish were jumping and flaring gills, almost a different animal to the summer choppers. 2 oz richters and 7 inch gulp jershads in pearl and sardine did the damage.

yeah fight hard that
yeah fight hard that size,
im using 20 pound fins on a symetry 4000 an a 9 foot starlo stick with 6 inches cut off the top.
rob uses a stradic 5000 (same size as the 4000 though??) with 20 pound fins and a 9 foot starlo aswell.
The starlo stick are unbelievable value for money, i think i paid about $100 for mine on sale.

From memory the 4000 and 5000 share the same body, but have different depths in spool.

i think it was more like 8
i think it was more like 8 inches from memory.....stacked it on the rocks when i first got it and damaged the tip, i wanted an 8 footer any way and so decided to do the chop. the tip was really fast as a nine footer so it didnt matter.

20 pound is perfect for that
20 pound is perfect for that sorta fishing. Especially if your throwing 60 gram lures, it helps to prevent mid air bustoffs.

i wouldnt fish any lighter
i wouldnt fish any lighter than that shorty unless i had some kind of height advantage over the fish, off a jetty for example. I do have an extra spool with 10 pound on but only use that on clean beaches, and platforms ect.
where we were fishing its all ripping over the top of reef holes.
Breno1985, read the text above the photos for the location, i cant be more specific than that unfortunatly, but get up early, grab a "fanny pack" full of lures and GET SOME!!!

20lb is about right
In the surf/reef with these critters and other species like Salmon you need the test to fish with confidence. Both my beach rigs are 20lb braid and I am very happy with the feel.
Great fish by the way!!!!! I'm getting excited again.. LOL

Moonrakers
Our good friend Colin Hay has a 13' Moonraker and I have seen it in action. Nice unit! I haven't moved up that far yet and use a Platinum Ugly Stik.
I have a Lemax that I am going to give a real shot this weekend seeing as moving baits (poppers/slices) seem to be working.
