Worms in Fish

Hey Crew,

I went out today and we managed to get some Tuna, Sambo and Breacksea Cod. After we got home I filleted the Tuna and I discovered worms in both Tunas. And there where caught in different areas, one near Rotto and one close to Mindarie.

I know that Sambos can have worms

but I never heard from Tuna. Can these worms be in all fish? And I know some ppl cut parts out and eat the rest. What is your opinion to that? Thanks for any input.

And I must say as well how good was the water!!!!!

Cheers Seb

That looks like alot of worms alf, i caught a 6kg amberjack tuesday and as i dont mind eating ytk in this size range and reports on fw and other sites rate aj as a reasonable fish thought i would give it a shot, one side of the fish towards the tail had a large mass of the worms pictured in your tuna but the were not dispersed, just one large accumulation about the size of a 50c piece so i cut it out and thought nothing of it, yet to taste it but hoping its as good as ytk, its going in a green thai curry but will also fry some up for a proper self evealuation. That tuna looks like they are right trough the flesh and i would be hesitant to eat it, just my opinion mate.

eidt: the top side of the fillet looks fine, would scrap the bottom and make small steaks from the top half, 1.5/2cm thick medium/hot heat, slighly undercooked let sit for 2 mins to cook through and make yourself a nice dipping source/wasabi or even bbq in yakitori sauce.

With worms I think it is best not to have it for sashimi just in case there are eggs/larvae in other parts of the flesh which is not visible to human eye.....

But I wouldn't eat it myself...the sight of the worms is enough to turn me off.

They where stripeys. I reckon it can get any fish but is it getting more common to find them in other fish?
