G'day all. I've got two problems with my 30hp Yammy 4 stroke (electric start).

First, it's not charging. It does, however, run fine. A test meter on the outlet wires from under the flywheel show no current coming out; AC or DC.  Would this tend to indicate a buggered stator (in which case I thought it wouldn't run) or just a crook lighting coil?. I'm hoping the latter 'cause it's cheaper!

Second, it's begun to not start normally and I reckon it's the start in gear unit giving me grief as I can usually get it going by holding the key on "start" and wiggling the gear lever until it fires. It all looks ok, so are there any adjustments that can be made or is a new part required? Any help would be much appreciated.
