I went there this morning and caught a few tailor and only parts of the beach were weeded out, although by 8am the beach had cleared of the weed though, should be good by tonight.
Went early this morning, weed everywere from the lagoon, club cap, the spot to two rocks. Had to resort to fishing of the rocks in the two rocks marina...... baby snapper were demolishing every bait i put out. also caught a flounder.
i went to yanchep and hooked onto something big, but didn't know what it was. it took about 80 meters of line at once, and then the line broke. i dont know if it was a big mulloway or a shark.
My 1st trip up to club capricorn so didnt know what to expect, got the line in the water about 5.15 and there was plenty of action from the start. It was just after low tide with a light easterly wind blowing and there seemed to be a nice gutter just in front of the reef. Found I wasnt hooking up using normal gang hooks so I swapped it for one with the trebles at the bottom. Managed a 33cm Dart on normal mulies and 2 tailor (41 & 36 cm) on long life mulies, they were still biting up till 9am then it pretty much went dead, not a bad induction into the club capricorn area, will definately be going again!
Car park side mate, the tide was really low so didnt need to go on the groyne, just fished to the left of it, another guy there was doing quite well, reckons there were a fair few mulloway about last night. The weed wasnt really much of an issue, maybe pulled in some weed 12 times in 4 hours, just used a pulley paternoster rig which seemed to handle it ok. Im trying to post a pic but cant seem to work out how to do it!
Got there around 5, My paternoster rig kept getting getting weeded up. Tried floating mulie rig, no luck.
So decided to get some whiting for breakfast..... They were goin nuts for the lamb.
Just before 9, hooked up big on my size 6 whiting rig..... Was a good battle until the tailor got airborne and spat the hook 5m from the shore..... Was pretty big. Couldn't believe it took such a small bait. Worst bit was I had to leave at 9 to get to a meeting.
All in all me n my mate got shitloads of whiting, a couple herring.
the weather looks good friday night nice wind all night - although the soapies have been biting in the rough waters lots of white wash and messy waves.
I went up to yanchep beach yesterday. the weather seemed good for fishing but there seemed to be no fish in the water. did anybody else go. there was a full moon. maybe thats why there were no fish.
Was thinking about goin for a session this thursday evening at club capricorn, tides are looking quite good. Had a go there last thursday and was plagued by a fair amount of weed, managed some good size whiting though, just wondered what the conditions are like this week, any info appreciated, cheers!

Nice haul!
Nice catches - did you fish from the lagoon or from club cap carpark side?
Yanchep always produces the goods, from tailor/herring/mulloway and a few years back managed 2 pinkies back 2 back.
How was the weed? fishable?

Hey Kingfisherman,
Didn't hit up yanchep last night, hit another metro beach a bit closer, pulled in about 12+ tailor, all over 40.
All were returned though :) what kinda rig were you using?

i was using 3 hooks on mulie and there was no success. i dont think much people caught much. do you reckon the full moon had anything to do with it.
It is the second time i have been fishing on a full moon and no fish.
