Interesting
It will be interesting to see where else this bitch goes. 1999/2000 was another la nina season, and that saw tc Steve reform 4 times from Townsville where I lived, all the way over to broome, and a few other places around the top end on the way. I reckon she is big enough to either go straight through the guts of aus, or head back north and gather strength, before traveling west or north. Either way, I reckon we will get some of her tail over here at some stage.

don't even think that
don't even think that Scotto!!!
we just dodged the bullet here. If that b!tch does swing up into the Gulf north of Queensland, then we all in for a world of panic, with the Gulf at hot temps water wise. Yes it could then swing all the way round the top end and down to North WA !!!

looking at the US Navy tracking for it, the chances of it getting back onto warm water in the Gulf is pretty dam good if it only slightly moves north!

At Port Hinchinbrook, about 70 boats were destroyed or badly damaged with some reportedly lifted out of the water during the gusts and dumped on land two metres from the foreshore

spotted this little section at the bottom of the news on the cyclone, and got word from a friend in Townsville that their 45 footer gameboat is on the bottom of the marina full of water!
How many big and small boats would have been lost??? could in a strange way be a boost for the boating industry to replace many of the rigs, with the bigger ones being not cheap at all!!!

yes this monster has dragged
yes this monster has dragged a massive tail of rain behind her!
Word is some areas got 400mm and more already last night and another 300mm predicted for next 24hrs, can Queensland absorb another massive amount of water??? I think not.

Got a text that my son
was ok, the wind sounded like a jet all night, but their house is ok, they thought no power for 2 weeks, so cleaned out the freezer yesterday and 1hr later the power came on (newer suburb undergroundpower) so he's a bit peeved, he went for a drive yesterday and plenty of trees down and woolies throwing out food that was still frozen, weren't allowed to buy any, their cats were ok as well. He turned the a/c and won't work so not happy Jan as its so muggy there at the moment. But they are ok and thats the main thing. Sad about the young chap suffocating on fumes from his generator in a closed room RIP.

one life lost is a heavy
one life lost is a heavy price to ay family, but for a cyclone of that size and strenght, the country got off mighty light.
Been looking at pics of boats in marinas all buggered up. present count is over 100 big boats ( penned ones 10m and bigger) buggered and close to 200 trailer boats written off as well!

apparently the other bloke missing who went to secure his boat has been found safe and well. He sailed his boat back into Cardwell!!
I want to hear this story!
My questions would be, where the hell did he go? how long before the storm hit and how did he keep his boat afloat!
ohh and are you frigging nuts!!!@!@!?????
