Yearly boating cost

Just to expand on "the other topic"

What are your estimated boating (maintenance) costs per year.

I do almost all my own servicing and maintenance so just the costs of blingy new- and nessecary parts plus insurances and licenses.

This could be a wee bit "painfull" for some who like to forget.

I up front appologise for this inflicted pain caused

I hope to be under $3000, but that includes upgrades like clears and electronics. I must be close on $6k in the last 12 months at a guess. That includes

HDS7

New running gear on trailer

Clears

Radios

Upholstery

And bits and pieces like ropes, anchors, SS fabrication.

Your right, theres a damn good reason I forget this stuff.

Definatley not posting the true costs on here just in case the missus logs on, but just put two new 115 hp Yammi's on the cat ($32000). New sounder and chart plotter ($2000).

And the best news is I get to times all my servicing bills by two!! Wouldn't give up the cat for the world though!

Up north a 100hr service can cost up to $1000, making it $10 per engine hour before anything else. Makes you think about shutting the engine down while drift fishing, easily save $20-40 in a day

Put 30 hrs($300) on mine in last 6 days

My new toy cost....

Fri, 2011-06-03 22:51

November last year I bought a brand new 2010 model Trailcraft 590 Trailblazer fitted with a 125 Optimax, on a tandem axle trailer, anchor, rope, safety gear, Lowrance VHF radio....then I added a Lowrance HDS8m, a Furuno FCV620...then there was the boat rego, the trailer rego and the insurance....no change from $55k.

20 hour service cost $300.....10L of DFI oil cost $112.

The fuel tank holds 170L but it's pretty reasonable of fuel and I want to go fishing/diving so I'm not too worried about these costs...these are the costs of having a 'toy'.

Obviously the biggest cost is done with (for now) so now it's just the usual rego and insurance costs, plus fishing/diving trip costs. Being out on the water with the family is pretty cool...can't put a price on that.

Comparing these costs to my younger days when I was drag racing, fishing is cheap  and I get the chance to catch some fish.

The other recent costs have been for more fishing gear....you can never have too much gear, can you?

regards
rusty...

Boat Costs

G'Day Guys

For all you guys out there that will be putting on new clears, canopies, carpets etc, I can recommend Mark at Canning Motor Trimmers.

I just fitted to my 685 Outsider a new Bimini top, storm sheets, strataglass clears and reupholstered two chairs including embroidering the Cruise Craft logo on the backs for an embarrassingly low amount. Total cost came in at less than 50% of some of the more reputable guys in Freo area - one guy wanted $5.5k plus ! All materials guaranteed for 3 years and first class work.

Next on the list are the coaming bolsters, rear seat and carpets as well as lining side pockets.

Not an ad for Mark just an option to save some serious money.

Cheers

Bruce
