Your Fishing Dream?

My idea fishing dream if i won lotto would be popping for GTs and Tuna using and buying cheapish gear(0-$250) and pushing it to its limits and try to land the fish of a lifetime, i have more fun watching the gear explode(hopefully no injuries Laughing), as you might gathered im a person who doesnt believe in speding big $$$ to catch fish, it should be all about fun. WHATS YOUR FISHING DREAM???

Cheers

Alex

Tiger fish in lake Cariba, and Nile Perch. But I do value my life so those options are probably not to save ATM. Otherwise Monster Tarpon in Cuba.

Thu, 2010-08-12 13:27

For me it would come down to, Goliath tiger, Vhundu (huge ass catfish caught in Lake Kariba), Wells Catfish or the Goonch! Tarpon in Cuba offcorse (im sure there is more i just cant think of any right now lol).

I wouldnt spend too much on gear, but i wouldnt buy the cheap stuff either

dont get me wrong i love my high end gears, but i love to put things to the test that people usually overlook like using a 7ft snapper rod glass graphite as a popping rod 700+ compared to 50-200max that would be awesome. On another note would love to catch Goliath grouper using a rope, hook, bait like on youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/captchancey#p/u/1/hQFO4WWSIIc

Jigging up a big Dogtooth

Thu, 2010-08-12 19:15

Jigging up a big Dogtooth out of my boat. Anyone can hand over the cash and get driven to where the fish are. Real fishermen find the big ones themselves.

Off the Monties is probably

Thu, 2010-08-19 19:56

Off the Monties is probably going to be your closest water but they might take some finding with lack of major structure out there.
Otherwise a trip out to Scott Reef will fulfill all of your dogtooth desires. Arrange when Reel Teaser or another charter boat is going out there and pay them to cart a 44 drum for you and promise to leave them alone when you're out there. Structure galore and fish to match....
Otherwise tow the boat over to the east coast and do a coral sea trip out of Cooktown or somewhere like that. Either would be one hell of an adventure.

Rankin is do-able in my rig

Fri, 2010-08-20 18:52

Rankin is do-able in my rig if we got weather like that last Montes trip Tim.

Am looking at a tow trip to the Rowleys next year some time. Negotiations are continuing.

Cooktown and Coral Sea is also a possibility. Have my old mate Harmsey with his impressive rig sitting in Rockhampton. Big road trip up the coast and could even sneak in a few days at Shoalwater Bay on the way.

do a bare boat hire out of

Fri, 2010-08-20 21:42

do a bare boat hire out of Broome or Hedland and tow a few trailer boats out to the Rowleys. Use the hire boat as fuel barge and fish out of the tenders.
I'll put my hand up with my skipper/engineer ticket if you can find the boat....
I know doggies have been speared at Rankin so if you can get out there you're every chance, just gotta hope the big girls are around.

To have enough

Fri, 2010-08-13 10:17

Money to retire early. Then just travel Australia spending as much time as I won't in any given spot. Hopefully I will have retired rich so I can buy that big game boat I've always wanted with a couple of dory's to chase the reef species. I would live aboard with my partner and live of the sea. The only headache would be the fuel bill and maybe the odd self inflicted one, well have to celebrate the big catch lol.

Brad , im not surprised you have to think about this one as you have already done so much of what most could only dream of...

Im not really asking much as far as catching huge fish, my dream is to head out to the rowley shoals and catch at least 1 of each fish that everyone targets, a month or so might be able to cover it

Yea definantly for me would have to be have a mothership with smaller tenders, head out to rowley shoals for a while, up to scott reef, then back into the kimberleys to explore it all.

all done with good mates, plenty of beer and just live off the land for a few months... oysters, mussels, mud crabs, fish galore, maybe throw in a few cans of baked beans and a few red bulls too.... (and definantly plenty of aeroguard for the bloody sandflies)

One day itll happen... Sooner rather than later.

Hire the True North

Sat, 2010-08-21 12:23

for a month with close friends (win lotto of course) and just putter up from Broome and fish, relax, drink, enjoy the company, scenery, dive, swim, get the helicopter to catch a Barra, see the country, where hardly any white man has stood on and this would be each year.  Old farts and my dream.  The other also buy a part of Dirt Hartog Island, back to absolutel nature, accomodation, eco friendly, only leave your footprints when you leave.

Had a real think about it this time

Two things i would like to do

Marky has it sussed with the Kimberley ting, on my to do list for sure

other one which i think i have just penciled in for 2012 is PNG and those black bass. Baia lodge looks awesome, beautiful in fact. Bluewater fishing there is great but ultimately i would like to pop for black and spot tail bass in those pristine waterways. Even if i have to pay for it, I'm going!
Who wants to come, i need another 4

Oil Rig

Sat, 2010-08-21 12:55

Buy an old North Sea Oil rig. Spec it up as living/fishing area. Anchor it off Broome and

hope to hell it can take a cyclone.

Other than that...Triple tail black bass in PNG.
