Your ideal charter???

We are currenty half way through our yearly refit and can not wait to get it back in the water and fishing again.

We are also half way through putting together our new website. It's all reday live at www.seaforce.org but it's only half done with most pages just sending back to the home page. I will let you know when its done, so don't judge it just yet.

As part of our new website I wanted to put together a coupple of example charter packages. Possibly including fishing (of course), accommodation, food, transport and mabey other things.

My question to all of you is what would you look for in your ideal charter?

We can do live aboard but are maily setup for just day charters, but can operatre and have good fishing ground form Carnarvon to Exmouth with the best of that between Coral Bay and Gnaraloo. We are set up to operate and fish at night. We can moore the boat overnight at several places up the coast over night allowing you to camp or stay in accomadation on the shore. We can carry up to 18 and fish up to 14 but ideal numbers for the boat are 6-12. We can do any type of fishing you wish from bottom boucing to spear fishing.

Here are some of the points I am looking for:

How many people, exclusive or not?

Where do you want to fish(shallow, deep)?

Where would you want to stay(Coral bay in a house, Gnarloo station, camping)?

Meals included (all meals, just lunch, supply your own)?

Day trips, overnighters, afternoon/sunset fish?

What would your budget be?

Any feedback and ideas would be much appreciated, Thanks.

 What about fish/technique

Sat, 2015-02-28 20:12

What about fish/technique focussed charters e.g. Jigging for Ruby's etc.

I think 6-8 would be an ideal number of people. A 3 or 4 day charter over the weekend would be popular. Meals/ water/soft drink supplied and alcohol byo.

if you could do an eight person, 3 day charter for $2000 to $2500 per head I think it would be very popular.

I reckon weekend charter,

I reckon weekend charter, leave at dawn on Saturday back an hour before sunset on the Sunday would be good. All meals (2 lunches, 1 dinner & 1 breakfast) & non-alcoholic drinks supplied, BYO alcohol. Accomodation could be any of the options you have mentioned but my choice would be camping. Sleep aboard numbers would depend on how many you could accommodate but I reckon a maximum of 8 people no matter what accommodation option was chosen. All gear & bait supplied with customers able to bring their own gear if they have it & it's suitable. Lures should be supplied by the customers. Personally I like sport fishing for tuna, GT's etc.

Cost would be dependant on what accommodation & style of fishing was chosen but I reckon chasing GT's with the camping option I'd be happy to part with about $1200-$1500 per head for the weekend on a good charter.

Cant keep everyone happy, but

Sun, 2015-03-01 11:09

Cant keep everyone happy, but here are a few scenarios:

1. the average punter will be looking for low price, which translates to lots of people on board and bottom bashing for demersals. Count me out, but this is where most of your revenue will likely come from.

2. For most punters on FW, they will be looking for fewer people of board, and probably targeted soft plastics or jigging only trip (you cant really jig and bottom bash at the same time successfully....at least for the jiggers). Most guys will say price is not an issue and they want less people, but the reality is price is always an issue.

3. There will be a few dedicated fishos who will be prepared to pay extra for exactly what they want, only a few people on board, only their mates and no external people, a deckie who keeps out of the way, jig or soft plastic only. This is what Whitey provided at Jurien. His was the only charter that most boat owners like me would go on and be happy.

A few tips.....encourage releasing near size limit fish, look after the fish and carefully farm your spots.

 Thanks for you imput guys.I

 Thanks for you imput guys.

I like to think we have the day to day charter stuff under control, Seaforce has been running up here for aboout 20 years with most with most of the crew being here for many years of that. With the crew also running a commercial fishing boat in the are we do a lot of self managing with the fishing spots but after 20 years of chartering and many more years of commercial fishing spots we are lucky that we have plenty to work with. As anyone that has been onboard will know we make sure you get the best from your fish by looking after them well and fillettinmg them for customers. We also have size self imposed rules and size limits on a lot of fish above what fisheries enforce, eg no reds under 500mm.

We are quite busy in season with normal day charters and most of our current groups are just stay in town for a week book the boat for 4 or 5 days in that week. We are just looking to mix it up a bit and are keen to see what differnt things people are looking for.

Ultimate Charter...

Sun, 2015-03-01 17:30

 Arrive at a reasonable time...0700

Greeted by hot women in bathers.... Not a grumpy feral skipper/deckie

Nice breakfast on arrival

No more than seven minutes to fishing grounds

Hot women now wearing nothing proceed to bait hooks and wait for bites..

Once fish is hooked nice lady deckie hands rod over and proceeds to massage back

Every fish is a killer catch...  Sent back to Davy jones locker..

Helicopter picks you up takes you out for lunch at Three Michelin starred restaurant

Afternoon session chasing billfish...previous hot deckies have disappeared , being replaced by even hotter looking Russian hookers....

Shit I just woke up....

Freekin bolt cutters again....

Had a quick look in at the boat while its in for refit and survey, still up on the hard stand the other day. Its looking real good, the boys have worked their arse off to get her looking like a million dollars. Can't be too long before she is back in the water and on its way home and back to work.

Good luck for the coming season.

Ring

Mon, 2015-03-02 08:42

Give them a ring, I'm sure they could arrange a few passengers on the run home. Some good ground to the north of Cape Cuvier to Gnaraloo that gets rarely fished by the pros or wood ducks.
One son works on a wetliner out of here says they have been seeing and hooking heaps of sailfish and marlin on recent trips, so adds another reason for the trip.

Love too but

Mon, 2015-03-02 11:19

Family trip to Horrocks with the boat the week after the schoolies in April then 3 mile in May so sadly wont happen for me.
I did get out with Seaforce last April and no doubt they run a smooth operation. The boat bagged out in no time with quality fish, was a great day out.

Thanks Carnarvonite. Good to meet you and put a face to the name. Finally getting it wet again tomorrow. Ended up doing a lot more than we planned, but that's boats for you. Looking forward to getting back fishing. Gonna chase some trout and makies on the way back home. Marked some good looking stuff on the way down that we are keen to have a go at.
