1KW transducer for Furuno FCV585 fitted

Finally picked up the stainless transom mount bracket and fitted the 1KW transducer today. Not to bad and easy to fit but will see how it goes when i get it on the water tomorrow..

Also ended up getting a new 175hp Suzuki today. Boat goes in fri for the fitup. Went and spoke with Honda today and they said i would need a 225hp so for the weight decided on the Suziki. Just got to try and get 20hrs up before i go so if anyone wants to head out for a troll let me know. Only 16 more sleeps and Exmouth lookout.  lol

Yea i took mine back and got

Yea i took mine back and got a 600watt transducer with change. It works out about even for the stainless bracket compared to the peg leg. My biggest concern was breaking it at spped as it's only made of plastic. Spoke to a boat shop and they said they were only really designed for sail boats originally so that put me off it straight away.

Ali

Wed, 2008-02-20 17:50

I ended up getting a spare original yamaha ali prop, castle nut, washer, spacer and split pin for mine for $250. Don't plan to use it either but good insurance in case I hit a bommie or turtle around the islands. Have even thought about swapping the props around and keeping the dearer ss prop for the spare, I'll get around to it one day.

Castle nut also known as a castellated nut I think. Holds the prop in place with the split pin then pushed through the shaft and folded over to stop it loosening (same set up as most trailer bearings).
