28cm Swan River Black Bream

My first sized bream, from the swan and on a hardbody lure. Landed this tues arvo on 1-3kg gear, using 10lb Flurocarbon and a rapala, balsa wood sinking hardbody lure.

Yeah cheers mate, turned out to be a good day. My friends landed another 4. Only one similiar size to mine :)

mmmm... im running 10lb braid, and its flurocarbon? If i get a big 50cm bream i dont think i would be able to stop him if i go much lighter.. You really think it makes much of a difference?

And its flurocarbon? Thats one way of thinking about it ..what poundage is your main line how often will you encounter a 50 cm bream downgrade like suggested if your fishing structure i go 'heavy' to 8lb leader. Like i said how often do u get a 50 cm bream so might aswell bring some sport into the tiddlers if played correctly 30,40 and even 50 cm bream can be landed on light gear its the fun part whats not fun is busting off and losing your lure

The leader is flurocarbon
The leader is flurocarbon sorry. Im using a teirra 1500 and a 1-3kg sic stick graphite rod, spooled with 10lb braid. I am currently running 10lb leader too, the reason i say 'its flurocarbon' is the fish cant see it anyway so why go lighter? Its not like im not catching fish with it, iv got about 5 or more bream so far on TT switchblades and this was my first on a hard body lure. What im asking is does going to 8lb really make much difference? Do you find you catch more fish? I do have the spare spool spooled with 4lb berkley vanish flurocarbon, but it breaks in my hand so i am a little nervous about using it becuase 1. im scared of loosing lures and 2. loosing a fish. Loosing lures being the main concern here, becuase being a uni student i cant afford to replace $40 worth or lures everytime i go fishing. The 10lb leader means i can pull off most snags, but thats not to say i still havnt lost lures. 3 so far from 4 trips.

Yes the size fluorocarbon does make a difference , for instance in a tournament folks might not get hardly any bites on 4lb but folks useing 2-3 lb will hook plenty of fish,,just one size with a different diameter can make a huge diffwerence even tho fluro is suppose to be invisble.
But you are not in a tournament and on a budget and are catching fish and getting your lures back so you are doing alright,,would you catch more on 8lb ? i don't think it would make much difference personally,,going to 3 to 4 lb you would notice a difference but lose more lures etc,,maybe fish 4-6 lb on flats (sandy areas) where theres not much chance of loseing fish to snags or structure if you wish,,
