But you still need a split, so you could just attach the solid ring to that. The advantage is you dont have a split in the 'load line' but really is it that hard to get strong enough split rings.
Mine didn't come cheap either, 3 pieces per pack...can't remember for how much cos I bought this like 6 -7 years ago....mine come pre-attached with split ring so there is no need for me to use any split ring at all..
