How good is busso jetty for squiddin. I remember my leavers yrs back had never been squiddin before. Went there after a biggggggg night in duns at lyons park about 3 am. Barely could walk haha and got a masssssssive squid with my 3 dollar jig. First squid blind drunk amazing. Walkin back with my hand line and huge squid in hand all the way back to backpackers haha
Don't normally bother squidding from the boat when down there. Get them from the jetty and then take the catches out on the boat for bait the next day (If not eaten first!!!!)
Last I heard the official opening is to coincide with the jetty swim but may be open before that.... Not holding my breath because of recent delays I have heard about.
are you shore, becasue when i was there a month or two ago it looked like there was railing on both sides??? if not thats good new for me squid here i come:) does anyone know the exate height from the water to the top of the jetty??
Hmmm i just had a look at some photos, it does appear from 3/4 's the way out theres double railing ?
I can't post pictures up anymore on fishwreck, but yeah seems to be a lot more,,
Mind you the railing side was always best before (the big bull herring always came from there), you just have to stand on the kerb when you are fishing,,or maybe you have to take a milk crate to stand on,,
Its hard to tell, maybe a 3 meter might be a bit small, seeing squidding is your main focus just get the 5 and be done with it, probally be safer as well off cliffs as well instead of on the edge trying to gaff them you can stand back a bit and gaff them as they are coming in,,
yer i was thinking thats, but lots of lb spots are closer to the water and it might be more difficult to do with a 5. ill probly go the 5 just to me shore. i donno.
haha man i cant wait, im going esperance for christmas and there fairly big ones there so im pretty exited. thats first platform at busso is a pretty good place but after you get a few you have to wait a while for more squid to come into that weed bed. cant wait.
there. Go 2/3rds of the way out. Chuck out a couple of live herring or yellowtails as switch baits and chcuk around a jig at the same time, you'll be amazed how big they can be. 40-50cm hoods are not uncommon.

Out of reach
of what? We just winch em up, i use 12lb flouro off the jetty for this exact reason. if a squid weighs more than 12lb he deserves to stay in the water

Switchbaitings always been popular at the Busselton jetty, we used to set 1/2 dozen lines up with floats and fish,,
Not sure why i never saw a squid sunday morning,,very suprising was low tide tho,,i reckon a dawn session would be better,i arrived after 9am,,
2/3rds the way out was my fav spot as well,,
