Sea Eagle Leeman

Tue, 2009-03-03 08:57

People in Leeman erected a big pole and this pair of breeding sea eagles have completed the nest and this is the third year that I know of them breeding.  She had two chicks and when we where there in January, she was teaching them to fend for themselves.  Had to laugh mum got a nice fish and the two chicks followed her everywhere bloody noisey little critters, but she flew off and enjoyed her catch then brought back to the nest what she didn't want, naturally the hungry chicks sat and ate her left overs thats when I took this photo.  Kept meaning to look at the bottom of the nest (ground) to see exactly what she was catching.

There was a family of Ospreys down at Cottesloe last year which had a nest in a big pine tree in someone's front yard. The mother used to bring the youngsters down to Cotesloe Groyne every morning so they could get a free feed of herring from the local fishermen.
