Underwater Freight Trains

Evening All

Just returned from an awesome family day out on  the water from Point Peron

Brother has just bought a new boat and offered to take us out for a spin. Left Point Peron mid afternoon and anchored at seal island. Daughter and I were silly enough to think the water was warm enough for a snorkel. After 10 mins of snorkelling, a seal came and played with us for 1/2 hour or so. Awesome. Cool

We then decided to head out to 5 fathom bank for a spot of bottom bouncing.

The only bait I had was a couple of herring and some squid cut up in 1 inch squares as cat food!

Got a few nibbles on the herring, but soon ran out and switched to the squid, a 1 inch square per hook (snelled by Tim years ago for me).

Well, then I got hit! After many runs, finally got this Sambo was brought alongside for a photo (he went just over 100cm long).

Now lets talk tackle.

The rod was my Dad's old rod and must be 30 years old, I was concerned it would splinter.

The reel (one of four), I found whilst spear fishing approximately 20 years ago.

The hooks snelled by Tim 2 years ago.

Bait, squid stolen from the cats!

I made the sinker 5 years ago.

Everything held up and is ready to go again. But don't tell the Mrs as I feel the need to update

Regards

Willy

Well done. Finally managed to stay on your feet long enough to get a fish.

Were you more excited about the fish or not getting sick Tongue out.

Hello Tim
