Spheros 8000 v Stella 8000 for $$$

Has anyone got a spheros 8000 and experience good or bad with these reels? The one main combo I'm missing is something between my spheros 14000 (15kg mono, 65lb braid spools) and my applause 4000 (6kg braid). Its a bloody big gap thats missing there for all my spinning work and I need something inbetween to fix the void. I wanted to get a stella 8000, but not sure on the price vs spheros. I saw that the spheros was $150 or so in bluewater exmouth yesterday, so can only assume they are much cheaper online. Has anyone bought a stella 8000 online and got a good price in comparison to being able to buy a spheros which may not be as tough/$$$, but still more than capable of handling good fish.

Cheers,
Adam

rotto containers

Mindarie Night Fish - expedition

I think this has been done before, any of the northerners (southerners can come aswell) want to get together for a Night fish out from mindarie sometime in the future.

not organising anything, just putting it out there.

Shimano Fireblood

Got my hands on the 2008 Shimano Catalogue today and noticed the new Fireblood spinning reels. Look pretty nice with their dark grey body and red trim. I think I will need to get my hands on a 4000 for a 20lb plastics outfit for after the barra season.

Any idea on prices and when they'll be available in tackle shops?

Grand Final 2007 Geelong Cats vs Port Adelaide Power.

Gday fellow fisho's.

Who's your tip to win the Premiership Cup and the Norm Smith Medal for best on ground?

For me Geelong Cats - they deserve it and for the Norm Smith I go for Joel Corey from Geelong Cats.

golf

A Catholic priest and a nun were taking a rare afternoon off
and enjoying a round of golf.

The priest stepped up to the first tee and to ok a mighty swing.
He missed the ball entirely and said "Shit, I missed."

The good Sister told him to watch his language.

On his next swing, he missed again. "Shit , I missed."

"Father, I'm not going to play with you if you keep swearing,"
the nun said tartly.

The priest promised to do better and the round continued.

On the 4th tee, he misses again. The usual comment followed.

Sister is really mad now and says, "Father John, God is going to
strike you dead if you keep swearing like that."

On the next tee, Father John swings and misses again.
"Shit, I missed."

A terrible rumble is heard and a gigantic bolt of lightning comes
out of the sky and strikes Sister Marie dead in her tracks.

And from the sky comes a booming voice .......
"Shit, I missed."

Favourite Barra Lure

Just wondering what your favourite barra lure is and what sort of success you've had on it. It's the one fish I can't wait to crack, might have to come and visit you Karratha boys soon. Any pics would be great too.

Cheers,
Adam

FRAMES

hey all on the topic of frames research, were would i hand in mulloway frames, also wat other types of fish frames are needed.? cheers

How do you use metal slices?

Gday fellow fisho's,

I've been using my favourite lure the good old metal slices but one thing, I've been bored out with just the casting and let it sink and flat retrieve. I'm just seeing your opinions about using metal slices!

Do you use different techniques, etc?

Thankyou everyone.

Bait Presentation

An insightful comment Andy Mac made -  ('Work a treat with easy hook up and great holding power. Fresh out of the box and retired after every trip. Its those 1%ers that make a big 10-20% difference in catch rate. I NEVER use old rusty hooks. It might cost you a bit more but worth every penny when you nail a few good fish and the guy next to you misses a heap of bites due to poor hooks and even worse bait presentation')

It's about hook preference and it made me think about all the different tips and tricks regarding bait presentation - whatever the species or tackle used.

Has anyone out there got any techniques they would like to share that have been successful for them?

Preferred Bottom Bashing Hooks?

what hooks do you find have the best hook up rate and don't drop fish? what hooks do you use on your rigs? glow squids or not?
ive been using the gama big bait circles 7/0's, and black magic KS 6/0's and find them to be pretty good

cheers
sam

Nebraska Fishing Trip 13th october SATURDAY

Looking at organising a fishing trip 13th October the Saturday.

OK due to people unsure of when they have time off etc.  The charter is planned to be booked for 13th October Saturday.

If the trip is confirmed all money must be Deposited before the trip, this stops no shows.  No one wants to get down there realising 3 people haven't showed up and have to fork out extra cash or cancle.  All money must be either transfered by Direct Bank Deposit or Cash on Delivery.  If fishing is unavailable between the dates all money will be refunded.

Cost: $150

They do have rods/reels on the boat but are spooled with mono line so are not the best.  BYO rod and reel is recommended.
The charter does provide rigs (paternosta) and 16oz weights, if you desire heavier or lighter weights or different rigs BYO.  You may also bring Jigs and Lures incase we spot a baitball with tuna etc.

The Charter is located in Fremantle on Jetty number 2 Capo D'Orlando Dr, Map Located below.

There will be an Early Start

Nebraska charters has a High reputation and one of the best catch rates in Perth metro, the charter will head north of Mindarie to yanchep.  target Species are Dhufish, Pink snapper and other demersal fish.  The boat generally fishes water from 35-60m.

Please If you wish to join place your name down quickly as the 13th of October is likely to be booked in a couple of days times, and we may miss out if we are too late.

Weekend landbased fishing

Weekend started off with a trip to the narrows with tyson to meet h0ju...

Not bad but packed on a sat night.. pulled in 1 breamski about 28-30cm on a baby vibe... then headed home as tyson was having a bad weekend... he had a huge run though and was busted off...

Got up early next morning to fish the high tide down the beach... got down there late, cos we slept in... me and tyson cracking open the first beer at quinns beach around 8.45am..

Nothing there, weed was horrid and the swell was up, so we packed in about 45 mins later and headed for a spot we have at mindarie marina....

Wind was picking up quickly, but managed to pull in 5 decent herring on some gulp shrimps.. so I was stoked.. my cat got a feed and tyson was frustrated again.. you get that...

A nice lunch and a bit of a rest saw h0ju at my door and us trekking up to moore river to fish the late arvo evening...

Went to silver creek first... couple of mis-hits using a zipbait rigge 46s.. then we moved to our other spot, which always fires in the day... was using the strike pro small fry II at that stage.. no hits however, h0ju started to get primed on bait... so switched over to the coral prawns (tweeds just get pwned in this river system) and got into some tiddlers.. max 23cm... or if you were using h0ju's mutant 45+cm bream measuring eyes.. these bream were like 10cm...

Sun set... and we moved to the river mouth for the night action off the flats as the fish migrate for the night...

We sat on this beaut little platform which is almost river height and down from the road... deck chairs set.. rods firing... h0ju had 2 out! lol...

We both got into a buckletload of fish... we werent counting but id dare say we landed about 30 between us... h0ju landing more cos he sucks shit and can only get small bitches.. lol

the fish for me that I landed there were all decent size.. which i was stoked about.. the first one was peeling line off awesomely and ended up being 30+ but we didnt have our measuring stick.. we were going off my hand which is 19cm palm to middle finger tip... and so, thats accurate enough for a casual lazy fish for the night...

So yeah, landed half a dozen or a bit more all averaging around 28-30cm and pulling like horses... was a great night....

We went through 2 1kg packs of coral prawns, rigging them near whole and after they were gone, we switched to the SP's only to be disappointed as it was pitch black lol

So we packed up about 10.30 and headed home.. however, h0ju the sly bitch went to the narrows on the way home and reports he landed 6 more on baby vibes (yeah picsorban!) but hes a bcf whore so dont listen to that.

:P

Using Google earth

Just wondering if anyone has triend using google earth to have a look for fishing in close?

It shows some pretty good detail around the metro area.  Or another handy Idea is to find the location of where other boat are which are stationary...

For Johnno - Northshore 650

Here you go johnno as promised a few more pics.  Unfortunately no fish though!

I have some video footage but won't let me download onto youtube...

Deckie/fishing buddy for fishing trip to exmouth

Looking for one person for a trip to Exmouth. leaving Perth on 9th November and returning about the 25th. Will be fishing the Billfish Bonanza. Must have some knowledge of game and sport fishing.

My boat is a 21ft plate alloy set up for game fishing. Must have own gear ie, line class from 8kg through to 24kg, lures and terminal tackle. I have enough to fish 5 but prefer own gear.

Cost will be finalised before we leave but if interested will have an idea.

I have a mate coming from Perth and Adam will be fishing the comp with us.

Will also target reds, ranking, GTs and also mackies and what not but mainly game fishing.

PM me if interested
