Boat capabilities advice
Submitted by joycey on Sun, 2013-11-03 23:24Hi guys,
I have a 5.3m haines hunter fibreglass cuddy cab with a 115 hp motor.
Had it for 18 months and so far furthest out I've been is to back of FFB out from the Sound.
This year after the ban hoping to head out further to the 40m mark south of Rottnest to try and catch some Dhu's etc.
Just wondering if my boat is suitable for this distance offshore.
I only fish in nice conditions but as we know things can change quickly when out at sea,
Thanks for any advice.
J.

Crabs @ Hillarys?
Submitted by Oracle on Sat, 2013-11-02 20:09Hi all,
I've just had a chat to a mate who said he saw someone catching crabs just out of Hillary's. I suppose they like the sandy bottom with weed so it makes sense, but are there many around there to make it worth while?
Cheers

Crabbin goes off in Australind

The Local Wildlife

The Wild Localife
Lookin out on the estuary thinkin to meeself, “jeeez we live in paradise here”, I might grab the missus and the kayak and go fora paddle maybe set the kids up on the winsurfer an have a bit of quality family time.
Was loadin up the gear when I spot the neighbours Dave and Shazza over the back fence and invite them to take in the ombionce of the pristine local waterway the mighty Leschenault Estuary.
So Dave an I lay down the tartan picnic blanket and down several beers to make sure they are the right temperature as we instruct the girls how to rig the windsurfer and get the kayak off the commodore. I very considerately gave my advoice on correct lifting techniques so as to not scratch the duco. Dave with was very impressed with my ergonomic knowhow.

I sense that the crabs are running cos i sees me ol mate Sgt Smiff and his boys havin a look

Mind you he didn’t seem too impressed when I told him I thought it was a bit shallow where they was lookin.

Life in Australind is just great........................

Then holy guacomole.............. our local pristine waters have a sudden change...

I gotta say some of yous “Hillbilly Rednecks from the City” gotta stop inciting Sgt Smiff to use urban guerrilla fishing techniques to apprehend our local crustaceans.
You have upset not only the kids but..............

The Loch Leschenault Monster is somewhat agitated and scaring away all the tourists instead of the terrorists!

For a short while there were crabs everywhere.........................

Don't need the boat anymore.....

Cos Sgt Smiff used too much charge when he blew things up

I prefer it the way it was here in our neck of the wood..............

Eski Baitboard
Submitted by bsir on Fri, 2013-11-01 12:00Gday Guys,
I just grabbed myself a new eski, and want to put a cover on the lid.
Inevitably the eski gets used for cutting bait and filleting at the end of the day.
Rather than cut the eski up, I was after ideas on what to put on the lid, and where to get it from?
Thanks

PFD's
Submitted by Cruise Control on Thu, 2013-10-31 16:15How many people wear a PFD when they go out in their boat fishing ?
I have often wondered what would happen if the boat went over and we had to scramble for jackets that are in the cabin. To that end at the boatshow I purchased a couple of Spinlock vests that you wear all the time. Quite small with gas inflate and go off when submerged for more than a couple of seconds. I have a Stormy but not really as comfortable as the Spinlock which is quite small with an excellent harness.
What do you do ?
