Todays little catch
Submitted by catchalittle on Sun, 2013-11-10 22:34Had a late start today dint hit the ramp till miday Took Murrey the ever reliable deckie and my son Tristen headed out to check the pots after pulling my pots and Tristens pots had 8 crays except two had to go back one under size and one berried not bad for a 14 hour soak, had a visitor to the boat while a Rotto a great white maybe 4 metres swim under the boat and then decide to have a chop where the transducer used to be not much left of that so will be a trip back to the boat yard considering the unit and boat is only 5 weeks old probably going to cost me a few $$ to replace but other than that conditions where perfect and a great way to spend the day with my son.He had fun catching the ever annoying wrasse and parrot fish which will be turned in to cray bait and a few wrasse kept for next months dhuie

Eshed
Submitted by sheldoncy23 on Sun, 2013-11-10 21:44Hey lads
planning on doing my first eshed session thursday. Was wondering if the mullahs are still on and what else can be caught around there for good bait and a feed? Rigs etc I think I'll be fine. Snelled 8/0 circles with a heavy running sinker from my research? But rig for catching bait i.e slimy macs I have no idea about. Cheers boys any info is appreciated

Osprey Holiday Village Exmouth
Submitted by triggy on Sun, 2013-11-10 18:24G'day All
Looking at accommodation possibilities for Exmouth next year.
Just after some feedback on the Osprey Holiday Village if anyone has stayed there.
All I really want to know is if I can park my boat and give it a quick tub at the end of each day?
Besides that it seems to tick all the boxes.
Cheers

beach fishing north of river
Submitted by johnjohnthedon on Sun, 2013-11-10 15:57Where is the best beach fishing north of the river? I live in joondalup but I dont mind driving.
I plan on using gang hooks with mulies for bait.
I'm not sure if I should use a sinker and let the bait sit on the bottom or go sinker-less and slowly real in the bait like a fish swimming. Whats best?
What kind of fish will I catch using that set up?
The more info you can give me the better as im pretty new to fishing!
Thanks!

Venting tool by " Vent Right "
Submitted by Oceanside Tackle on Sat, 2013-11-09 16:57If your a keen offshore angler you will fully understand the frustration in dealing with barotrauma symptoms.
The release weights are effective and now there's another addition to aiding the release of barotrauma species. This being a venting tool by Vent Right, its quick and easy with proven results.
This tool is only recommended for anglers that have fish care factor and experience.
Vent Right is locally made and only high quality corrosion resistant material like stainless steel and aluminum used. Easy to use with an instruction sticker attached to the tool.
In store right now, $75.95

A few Rotto trench questions for you
Submitted by beeroclock on Sat, 2013-11-09 11:23Gday all - with the game season getting closer brother and I starting to gear up for rotto trench trolling. Will be our first serious season out there so first question - Is that area in the middle of the trench that has been marked off limits to fishing being enforced yet - if not now does anybody know when?
Second question - Do you guys that regularly fish the trench for marlin and tuna favour big pushers over skipbaits - or do you run both what do you guys find gives best strike rate?
Thirdly - we are going to launch at Hillary's - go straight to HYC FAD catch our 3 dollies then troll south down the trench till west of west end then come back north. Last year when reading the reports I noticed that most action seemed to be at the south end of the trench do you guys think its a better idea to tow the boat down and launch off say woodies and concentrate on the southern half of the trench.
Any other tips, advice etc very welcome
Cheers Dave

Furuno
Submitted by 81macca on Sat, 2013-11-09 08:18Can anybody help, I need to download my waypoints from a Furuno GP7000f to a PC (or something)? I'm selling my boat with the plotter on it and not really keen on losing my way points or writing them all down by hand. If I remove the c-map card will the waypoints go or are they saved to the unit?
Cheers guys.

Daiwa emcast 4500
Submitted by Super peg on Fri, 2013-11-08 20:19Hey guys, I've been using the search on site and have read a few of the users of this site use or have owned them before.
my question is this, apon looking at one today ( first time in person and not on a screen) when winding it I notice the spool raises up a lot higher than most reels I've used which I gather is what makes it better for casting or some such. When the spool is at it's peak I notice that underneath it the under casing ( if that's correct wording for it) has 3 or 4 slits in it, making it possible to see into the internal part of the reel , normally only visible when I've removed the spool from my other reels.
Will this be ok or cause constant Maintenace issues? Is it sealed enough? I gather daiwa would have thought about it a lot but just would like other users opinion,
Hope that all makes sense and hope someone can share some insights
Cheers , peg

Spiked fishing shoes/boots
Submitted by kknlk on Fri, 2013-11-08 08:00I'm using rockhoppers when walking on reef and they've been great but pricey as the spikes wear fairly quick. As a cheaper alternative I just saw spike attachments to your running shoes costing about $17 posted. Anyone try them already and if so what are they like for gripping reef?
