Sunday Session
Submitted by carassius on Fri, 2008-04-11 18:13Heading out Sunday, hopefully bag a few squid around parmelia bank & try my luck around carnac island for some pinkies. Anyone had any luck out there? When do the big Pinks come in, I've been told straight after a Nor Wester winter storm, so would that befrom Jun/July?
Managed to score Monday off so looking at going out, have no deckie, so if anybody sth is interested PM me, I will have definates by weeks end, just in case I have to work, young people just don't seem to wanna work anymore :( but I will launch from Jervous Bay & head out same as above or maybe try around GI & The Causeway

Marlin Rods
Submitted by Jesse G on Fri, 2008-04-11 17:30Hey guys,
Just a question,
My Dad and I are looking for a marlin rod for my beastly reel(pic attached) As it is my birthday tomorrow. We are most likely going to buy them at Compleat Angler in Joondalup. Does anyone know any good quality rods for marlin.

New Member
Submitted by GusG on Thu, 2008-04-10 14:40G'day guys,
I am a new member to the site. I have just arrived frrom over east where i use to do all sorts of fishing. LBG, blue water, estuaries, freshwater, fly, you name it.
I am keen to get a bit of a heads up on WA fisheries. Any advice you blokes may have for me will be very greatly appreciated.
So far I have tried some lure fishing in the river around Mayland & East Perth without much success (spent a fair bit of time cleaning up rubbish left bty some filthy buggers the night before -beer bottles, cans, bait packets, etc)
I am keen to tangle with some bream in the river, some salmon or talior off the rocks/beach and would love a trip outside if someone has a spare spot on a boat.
Thanks in advanced for your help.
Gus

NOR vs SOR Mindarie Entry
Submitted by Tim on Wed, 2008-04-09 22:47With just over 2 weeks to go until the Mindarie round of the comp we need to start collecting some money from those who are confirmed so that we can start purchasing some prizes.
John from Compleat Angler Joondalup and Ryan from Oceanside Tackle in Oconnor who are sponsoring the comp have both offered to collect the money for us. Can everyone try to get their money in by the 19th to give us a week to sort out the prizes.
Dont forget to stock up on your gear while your there too. These shops are supporting us so dont forget to support them in return. You never know you may even be lucky enough to get some info on where the fish are while your at it.
If you are not able to get to either of these places by the 19th can you please let Andy or Myself know and we will try to sort something out.

torsa/trinidad or Saltiga
Submitted by Simon C on Wed, 2008-04-09 07:00Guys - looking to setup a "lighter" outfit for offshore from Perth, that can double as a good northern outfit for light trolling for smaller tuna/mackies etc. ALready have a saltiga 30 and 40 overhead so am looking for something smaller to use mainly for Driftbaiting and light jigging. I have not decided on a rod yet but leaning towards something like the Jigwrex pe1-3 or the similar saltiga. Want a bit more length than the current jigrods I use as I feel a softer tip is an advantage
and also lets me use it to cast with if need be.
Any way - my current preference is for a Torsa 16N. Anyone own/used one and can give me the heads up. Main reason I am leaning that way is I already have a couple of Saltiga's and don't own a lever drag reel. Downside that I can see is weight, so the Trinidad 14 is my second preference.
Line will most likely be PE3

Between 12 people on the boat there was an 8kg Dhuie, a Small Juvi Sambo, 20+ Decent Size Nanugai, a 4 kg Pinkie and alot of smaller 3 about 55cm and 1 undersize pinkie, a Bronze Whaler Shark of about a meter in length, alot of sergeant Baker, 3 Queen Snapper No Less than 60cm...
