out riggers

hi all,

have been looking at some out riggers for my boat (5.4 trailcraft profish).  These are the ones i've been looking at;

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/OUTRIGGERS-BLACK-15-COMPLETE-OUTRIGGER-KIT_W0QQitemZ220269439746QQihZ012QQcategoryZ23822QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I'm not really sure on what would best suit my boat?  I don't want to spend heaps (probably up to $300) so does anyone have any ideas on a where I can get a decent set from or whether the above would be suitable or not?

Plan to install them before heading up to exmouth so hope to use them to help catch my first billi!!!;)

Upgraded Moonraker

Many thanks to Brendan (brenz) and Matt (Mako Magic) at the Tackle Shack in Malaga for their efforts in moving the reel seat of my Moonraker rod.
For those who unfamiliar with the Moonraker rods, they have been designed similar to tournament distance casting rods.
Beautifully balanced and made of high quality carbon blank and lowrider casting guides, they certainly allow the average caster to throw a metal lure a fair distance.
However, the rod’s long but and high reel mount can make lengthy fishing sessions quite tiring on the arms.
During a recent visit to the Tackle Shack, Brendan and Matt suggested they could fix my problem by removing the reel seat, sticking on a new sliding reel seat in a more uncomfortable position and adding new grips.
Given a short schedule to complete their work, the boys were able to turn out a fantastic product in time for me to take it Flatrock last weekend.
To say I was happy with the result would be an understatement. The casting distance was still there. And the lower reel mount made spin and bait fishing a much more comfortable experience.

avo of the sippy

after finishing my chores at the boat show i quikly grabed the 12 ft tinny and rushed down to hillarys . so 4 ocklock came round and the tinny was in the drink fired up the new chart plotter to find my self thoroughly impressed with the navionics card (cheers dean) and powered out to some shallow reef spots in chase of a skippy or 2. found a spot that came from 12 m straight up to 5.5 m and decided to have a crack. burleyed up the water with spesses pellets and loaded up the 4 lb combo with a maria 3 gram jig . dropped it down and with in seconds i had been smoked and busted off. after 3 more bust offs i finally got a fish to the boat and it was a very respectable skippy . after that the fish kept comming pinkys , skippy, wrasse and a few unknowns all on the 4lb jigging gear (great fun for a laugh). great day had and plenty of fish wich was good to see.

sunday 24th Two Rocks dhuies

Took Peteman out fishing today from Two rocks, left the ramp at 5am third boat out, was blowing around 15knots and not what they predicted, went out to the 40's and met up with paul g who had already a couple of nice fish, managed a sambo around 18kg or so.

moved aorund for a while trying a couple of spots for bugga all, then at around 10am had a good hit and bang dhuie time, first one for the day and around 8 or 9kg.

Drifted again and had a tosser come ping my spot so after that i moved on to another spot, hehehe after making sure he knew i was pissed at him, flying past doing 30knots.

Next spot and we managed more dhuies, i got a double header with fish of around 5-6kg, pete got a nice one as well as a nice pinkie, let a few fish go and the wind eased off to hardly anything.

cant get pics up atm site must be playing up

Name the fish!

It's all down to a BIG incorrect common name!

What fish am I referring to?

C'mon, put your thinking caps on! Wink

I'll give you a hint later, if no one gets it!

Sounds like great election material and hopefully aids in future years if the v5 ban hits us all hard , cheers feral

What did you think of the boat show?

Hi guys, just wondering what people thought of the boat show??

Steep

Going to Steep Point tomorrow, with me brother and staying at Shelter Bay and return Monday. I know the makies will be a bit on the quiet side but bottom bouncing should still be on (if its not blowing its guts out). If it is does, anyone know of some good spots that are protected around that area, only taking the tinny and apparently the passage can get pretty nasty.

Bottom Bouncing Rig

Hi

When making up bottom bouncing rigs am i better
to use knots or three way swivels?

What differance does it make with strengh and tangles?

Thanks Rodrat

Perth to Exmouth in a Trailer boat?

Looking to do Perth to Exmouth in a trailable boat in April. Has anyone else done this trip? Just looking for suggestions or comments.

I think we would go two rocks to Jurien, Jurien to Geraldton, Geraldton to Kalbarri, Kalbarri to sharkbay, sharkbay to carnovan, Carnovan to Coral bay, coral bay to Exmouth. Spend a week in exmouth and then trailer the boat home.

Boat will be a 26 footer.

thanks for any help
