Snapper Mayhem video

Here's a clip I put together this morning from a trip out about a month ago. Weather has been a bit off last couple days and it shows with the lack of fishing related posts and a bit of dribble thrown around so here's something to keep you busy for two and a half minutes..

Watch in 720p boys, hope you enjoy..

Whales very friendly off Ocean Reef - video

Went for a quick jig on Sat morning before the footy. Conditions were crappy and the samson fish and amberjack had vacated the lumps close in off Ocean Reef that we had had so much fun with lately, but we did mange a few rats and Langa got a really nice snapper on jig, his jig pb.

Then the whales closed in, and as we only had PE3 gear (haha), we decided to just watch the performance.

Truly magnificant creatures, there were three whales, two adults and a calf. They hung around right over the lump we were fishing and on a drift one came up right behind the boat and tail slapped the water  right behind the boat.....scared the bejesus out of me so we moved away a few hundred meters in case the adults were getting protective of the calf, but they came over and hung about for 15 minutes, just lolling about next to the boat checking us out.

Wonderful experience that my dodgy iphone video does not do justice.....

Vernon Islands NT vid

This is from a month or two ago when I was in the NT, did a day trip out to the Vernon Islands casting around drop offs for queenies, cod, trout etc.

We didn't have a great day out but there were a few reasonable fish landed... enough to keep us entertained anyway.  These were some of the better fish of the day (best watched in HD):

Cheers

Shark vs Jetskifisherman

One of the most exciting fishing techniques while Jetskifishing is jigging for Kingfish. I have had plenty of Shark encounters while doing this but the beast beneath the ski dwarfed my ski and gave me a real wake up :-)

Please share the vid with your friends, if you SUBSCRIBE to my channels you will be notified of my next video first.

NW Blowies. Only thing worse is a Hoard of NW Blowies!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0F5IG4lWqE&feature=youtu.be
Best watched in 720p

Some footage my mate took with his GoPro3 of a Hoard of Blowies that harassed us at one of our fishing spots. No bait was even being used at this spot, only metals and plastics, and they were ravenous for anything. Even had a crack at a Petrel sitting on the water a few meters away from the boat!

Other than one hooked and released no Blowies were harmed. Just moved to a different a spot. But that didn't entirely work either. Out of about 15 spots we visited the NW Blowies were in on about 10 of them. But we persisted and did manage a feed of Dhuis anyway. Still was quite amazing to see so many in the one area.

Queensland GT Video

Hi All,

With the inaugural GT comp been blown out (Will Be Rescheduled Later In The Year) and having travelled quite some distance to attend the event.

When the opportunity arose we headed out popping the Islands as we headed for the reef.

The weather was pretty average and fish also shut down but our skipper persisted and put us on to some nice GT.

I hope you enjoy the video.

sat 4th may my pre wedding day fish

Well with so much happening and my family coming over for my wedding on sunday and my brother desperately wanting to have a fish, the plan was for the Friday.   however a few very unexpected injuries before hand resulting in my step daughter needing plastic surgery to her ear because of a hungry horse deciding to take a little nibble, the fishing trip looked like not happening.

However some juggling of plans and extra long hard hours setting up for the wedding meant I was able to finally get the boat out on the Saturday morning. Plan was to head out to the fads to get some dollies then have a bottom fish, so launched rockingham at around 6:30 and found conditions pretty good so a shoot out to FSC fad was the go. Got about a km away and set up for the troll and tuna everywhere stripies and little SB everywhere, 4 way hook ups etc, great start to the day.

Get going again get just past the fad and bang 3 way hook up on dollies, boated a few there up to around 100 odd cm until a boat came along and the divers jump in, thank you very much see you later !! Plan was to head back closer to shore and have a bottom fish in around 40 odd meters. First spot was basically a dummy drift to set up and work out what way we were going, once that was established, the next drip was set up . lines down, few pickers then I feel a tell tale dhuie having a go at my bait, send back a bit of line then back im on, good fish too, get him up, down he goes, this went on for a good few mins until I could feel him tire a little, arms feeling it and legs shaking knowing this is a good fish we wait for colour and what a sight, up at the back of the boat a horse dhuie comes up floating, into the net and on board, and cheers all around, this was to be my biggest to date at 18.7kg and the day before my wedding to just top off a great weekend.

Picked up another few dhuies also for the day and ended up keeping on the boat for the day a few tuna, 3 dollies to feed everyone that night and 2 dhuies 1 at 18.7kg and the other around 8-9kg, so extremely happy and back at the ramp at 1:30. not a bad day
