3 Mile Softy Sess
Had a very quick soft plastic sess late Saturday arvo with Daz and TimVB, at the Marina at 4pm so only got a few hours in, fished until fuly dark.
Just blind fished the 3 mile as no spots close to Hillaries, and after 30 minutes of nothing, was thinking it was a mistake but then the sounder lit up and we had 30 minutes of SNOOK madness. Two tripple hook-ups and many others, and as long as we kept one in the water, they stayed around the boat and we were watching them take the plastics......good fun! Daz caught a hooter, looked like a baracuda!
A few skippy were also caught, kep one for sashimi.......if you have not tried it, have a go.....best sashimi going IMO.
Then I got busted off on a nice fish after a 15 second battle....pinky or dhuie most likely. Then once it was totally dark, hooked up on a non glow, non scented placcy on the bream gear (retired the soft plastic outfit after getting bricked), and landed a nice just size dhu banger which gave me greif on the light stuff....man they hit hard.
Made a nice dinner tonite, skippy sashimi and baked dhuie.

Sashimi
How do you do your Sashimi? Just fillet & serve, or is there some preparation involved?
What sauce do you use?
I'm keen to give the skippy sashimi a crack.

Secret with skippy sashimi is
Secret with skippy sashimi is VERY thinly slicing it across the grain. The firm flesh is delightful in the mouth and never feels slimy, but it must be thin. With the fillet skin side down, start at the central spin bones and slice at a sallow angle to slice of wafer thin slivers, missing any blood lines. I saw it on Ifish with the masterchef guy doing the slicing.
Two options for "sauce":
1. Conventional soy and wasabi
2. Capachio : lemon juice and olive oil and a touch of salt.
I always keep just one small skippy for sashimi. I recon they are awful cooked but excellent raw v

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
