60hp yamaha 4st service

Gday
Does anyone know /have manual for 60hp yamaha 4st 2003mdl.
I am guessing that there is a drain plug somewhere & the mtr would have to be tilted up 2 undo & lower to empty.
If anyone has info that they can impart or better email the relavent service manual pages.

At $250 a service at the dealer-"OWCH" put a big dent on my fishing budget.
Cheers

Hi Jeff,

Here's one source:

http://www.bustersmarine.com/Manuals/manuals.html

It's about halfway down the page on the middle left side. Cost plus postage has to be less than the tune-up...

I just Googled "60HP Yamaha 4-stroke 2003" (without quotes) and up it came. I'm sure that there are others out there as well, some probably in Oz.

Yeah I have a '06 Yammy 60 4 stroke and do my own services too.

Just use Yammy branded filters and oils and your warranty is good .

Thanks for the feedback.
I have had the motor from new & have had it serviced at the same place as purchased (Estury Marine Mandurah). It is now out of waranty.

I tried to Google & used other search engines & word combo's yet failed to obtain the required info.

"Maveick" Do you have a manual or have knowledge on how to????
Would be great to converse with you!!

Im not overly mechanically minded, but current financial circumstances make it necessary.
The motor(boat )has barely been used in the last 2 years as i have been recovering from spinal surgery & would like to take my son to the sky show. Thus i am keen to change the oil & filter prior to.

Cheers

the drain plug is at the back of the motor, outside the cowling(cover).its inside the tube. leg down for oil change and tilt it up and down a few times at the end to get it all out..

id be inclined to give her a full service including tank drain etc, if you havent used it in a few years

hope this helps

I've done all my own services for years and its no problem even for a novice.
Firstly its an out of the water job, on a trailer or sling, with the engine in the running position.
*Pressure wash the lower end when it comes out of the water.
*Drain the engine oil while the engine is still warm, its thinner and flows better.
Tip:I put an old carpet under the engine area to sop up any spillages, which on an outboard seem unavoidable.
*I recommend you change both engine and gearbox oils, change the engine oil filter and the plugs, and flush the fuel filter.
*Remove the prop and re-grease the spline and the rubber bushes.
*Fit a new split pin - go for the next size up and bend it a little bit on the end to get it in.
*Fit new Yammy anodes (dont use the cheepo copies unless you are planning to replace the engine in the next 3-4 years) and clean the anode seatings and the bolt threads and heads.
*Unscrew and clean the cable ends from both the anodes and the engine frame, and as an extra insurance I fitted a cable from the tilt pump to the lower anode (stainless shark cable and a few crimps).
*Grease ALL nipples until the grease can be seen, anode cables and bolt heads, and the throttle linkages and slider (use marine grease only).
*Make a 15-20 min (out of the water) engine run after serice with mufflers fitted with loads of fresh water going in (and out).
*When everything is running smoothly and your completly satified with what you HEAR and SEE, spray the entire engine (under the coweling) with silicone spray.
Any problems get back.
