Advice on Ajiking pro jigger
Submitted by Just1morecast on Thu, 2010-08-05 11:04
Just need some advice on the ajiking pro jiggers, anyone know how they are? Says 10kg drag would something that small be capable of it. Ive been looking at them as they read up okay and im a fisherman on a tight budget so cant afford most high end gear. Il be using it for a bit of pe 3 jigging.
Any advice from the jigging guru's would be great
Cheers

few things
Hey mate, I can tell you a couple of things about the reel. I'll precede it by saying that while I've played around with them in the showroom I haven't used one yet. I'm taking one to the Monties in three weeks though so I'll be a lot more familiar with them when I get back.
We've had good feedback on the reels from tackle stores inc the Tackle Shack. I believe some big fish have been landed on them and they've held up well. Auslobster has one so a quick PM to him could get you some more info on it.
The 2nd gen of Pro Jiggers have had their drag washers upgraded and they're now pretty close to the Carbontex washers. In the showroom they've pulled the drag down to about 12kg I think. Some of the guys on 360oTuna have got them and tested the drag to just under 10kg from memory. As well as that the bearings have been upgraded too which all up should give them a lot more fighting longevity.
My personal thoughts are that they would be a good PE3 / PE4 reel, that's what I'll be putting on mine for the Monties.
Also FYI the Pro Jiggers with the T-Bar handle aren't in Oz yet, all being well they should be around in the next couple of months.
Hope that helps.

Does look an interesting
Does look an interesting reel. I like the fact that it's so small. Think that 360 Tuna mentioned 10 lbs, not kg. Considering one for a light mono troller, where the drag at the limit shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks Ben well seems they
Thanks Ben well seems they are okay. Being a copy of the avet then it should do okay, i think il purchase it as a trial an error thing as i normally jig with egg beaters and not overheads. If i find it great then maybe move on to spending a little more money otherwise if i dont it wont seem too harsh as ive only spent around $160. Im getting mine from the net so its the Tbar model. Way cheaper than buying them here on OZ rip off at like $230 round Perth

Cool
Lol. I'll ignore the last sentence seeing I'm working with the Oz distributor and all.

Yep prices are higher, you're not getting ripped off though, just getting charged what it costs to provide a face-to-face service. Online = no import taxes, lower staffing costs, no import freight costs etc etc.
Keep in mind all tackle stores here know the T-Bar model isn't in Perth yet so if there are any issues (not that I'd expect any) it's unlikely you'll be able to get much help.
Let me know how it goes mate.
