Advice on GPS to link to Furuno 588

Looking to upgrade to a Furuno 588 with 600W transducer, mainly bottom bashing up to 100M, whats the latest advice on GPS/Plotters to link to the 588, I'm not overly concerned about having a back up sonar but would like to run Navionics so it seems Lowrance is the best option, if so what model and whats the benefits?

I tried everything to get the Guruno to talk with my Garmin. No can do. Same for most GPS units including surprisingly some of the Furuno MFDs. You need to go to the shitty 1870 to get this functionality....no thanks!
Boston Whaler 235 Conquest......getting the flogging it was built for.

Thanks for the replies guys,
Thanks for the replies guys, so the general consensus is the 588 is the sounder to use and dont bother trying to link it to the plotter, I am leaning towards HDS9.

When your looking for new
When your looking for new ground zoom right in with the hds and use the cursor to mark then save.

Currently running a 588 with a HDS7 gen 3.
Not connected to each . If I find new ground I just follow my tracks back and run over it again and sound around and mark it that way.

your hds can send GPS data
your hds can send GPS data to the furuno but not the other way round so you just manual put the coordinates back into the hds . Easy

I'm investigating buying a new sounder now and this ability is something I would like. It seems Furuno are probably the sounder of choice however they are lacking this feature. Seems that an aftermarket product called Markfish www.chsmith.com.au/Products/Markfish.html gives this capability albeit at a $280 price tag.
It's a bit frustrating really because The simrad NNS I have can scroll back through the sounder history and mark any waypoint including depth information. Unfortunately the rest of the sounder options and abilities leave much to be desired.
Can anybody tell me if the 588 has any history scrolling functionality?
