Hey all looking for a bit of advice, my misses hit awesome status tonight she says I bought you present today its on the bed, I went in thinking who knows what and there is brand new 10000SW sitting there. Feeling pretty sweet but I am wondering should I take back and swap for a 8000SWPG, new to Perth and style of fishing so looking for advice....

I have both. SW10000 is a specific high speed popping reel, excellent for popping GT's. Not much good for jigging although I used mine for a year, and am actually going to use it tomorrow with PE8 in case we hit the XOS sambos. Hopeless for bottom bashing.
The SW8000PG is a jig reel, much lower gear ratio, perfect for jigging PE5, good for bottom bashing (I have never bottom bashed with mine but others have and say they are good). You can pop with these at a pinch but not perfect, to slow. The SW8000PG is the go to jig reel tomorrow.
The SW8000 is an alround reel, can do popping and jigging OK, neither perfect but neitehrbadly. One oft my mates took one to Monties this year, it was really good. I had a quick pop with it, worked well. If I was to get one reel only, would probably get a 8000PG if you wanted to jig and bottom bash and had no plans to pop, but an 8000 if you plan to do a bit of popping as well. The 10000 is really a specific pop reel only.

Amen to that! Popping has to be one of the most exciting ways to fish... I've been so desperate lately I've been popping for tailor in the swan....

Thanks John
Thanks mate appreciate it, I also have 20000SW that was bought earlier that I thought I would use for jigging but maybe over kill but given I have that I am wondering should I keep the 10000 for trips north throwing poppers and stick baits? Also have a 5000 so she just bought the one in the middle for me.

yeah, I had the 20,000 but
yeah, I had the 20,000 but sold it and bought the 8000PG as the 20,000 is a beast of a jig reel but too big for me. If you keep the 20,000, then I would also keep the 10,000 as no point having two jig reels.
