Anchor size

Hi All

I am looking to buy a new another anchor for the boat. What size is recomended for a 20Fft ali? I cant quite work out this whole size thing with anchors.

There is already a anchor in there but i am looking for a second one to make a V style moorning at ningaloo in september.

This is the anchor i am looking at. Its 5.5kg just the anchor and 11.5kg with the chain.

Would this be suitable?

Cheers Jayce

They couldnt tell me the brand of it so i think it may be home made.

Im not sure the brand of anchor thats in the boat already. Its just one of the folding style sand anchors. I havnt used that one before and havnt pulled it out to inspect it.

Mooring

I use a similar anchor for a mooring Jayce but its for a 9-11 metre boat and weighs 30 lbs + chain.

Been in some big blows and all that happens is it digs in deeper. I do swim out to my boat though when I use it.

I can hear the deckies cries already if i got a anchor that size haha.

There is a good chance i will just put it back on the trailer every night. Make me sleep a bit better.

But if its not real flash for launching and retrieving i wanted to run the option of the 2 anchors out the front and a star picket on the beach.

If you're putting one down for a mooring, just throw it out at the start of the trip and pick it up at the end. You can borrow mine if you want up, its set up with a float already to go.

Just a question about using it as a mooring

With that type of anchor won't it twist out of the sand as there is no swivel in the set up. if the wind goes through a 360 degree change it must surely twist the head of the anchor out of engagement with the bottom.

Sand

In sand it just turns around and re-buries itself.
