Gday all
First time on the site, love my fishing.
Well after living up here for 11 years I finally bought myself a boat a couple of months ago. Been out a dozen or so times since - would be more if the weather hadn't been so shite. Not having the best of luck so far but I am sure after being on this site and getting some good tips from you guys things will improve. Mainly been going out with the kids so always a bit challenging, but now school is back I should be able to get out a few times with some decent deckies.
Cheers

Welcome to the site
Another Kcity wrecker. Yes I learned a few tips on this site about what to do and what not to do.
There is some good spot fairly well protected, but the best ground is certainly the open ocean.
I prefer to head west weather permitting toward west reef. You might not get reds all the time, but it is good ground for snapper and Coral trout. Just motor around and follow some off the map contours there. Look for drop offs and water about 20m +. Deeper I find I donate fish to taxmen, unless you are out north towards the rigs when you can go deeper for reds etc. U still get taxed by not as frequent.
I just dont like killing fish by hooking them, and some totthed critter has a free meal.
Also dont be scared to try some off the closer reefs that most people drive over. As a beginner 3yrs ago did fairly well close in, whilst we were checking the place out.
Good luck
