Another one bites the bitumen.

Phone call from my daughter on Saturday asking me how do you put a boat back on the trailer after it has fallen off. Had been out with a friend all day and was heading home when he rang to say the boat had come off the trailer. No sure of the full story but seems winch broke, no mention of safety chains as have not spoken to her since initial phone call.

OUCH!

The embarrassment alone would do me in . Boats are expensive both to buy and maintain. I'll bet they implement some safety measures in future.

Ooops. It might make them feel a little better if you tell them about my mates old man. He spent $100 thou + on a 33ft something or other & the third time he ever took it out he forgot to lock the winch off when he pulled it up the ramp. The boat fell off about 3/4 of the way up the concrete ramp putting a dirty great crack in the hull. He did this late on a Saturday morning down at the ramp in east freo. Apparently everyone was either pissed coz he blocked the ramp or pissing themselves laughing at what a dill he is.
