Is there any overheads

That you can change from right to left ????? side, I was looking at my older reel The penn 114h and was wondering if there are any new reels on the market that can be changed over

Asking for a mate

A few can be changed

Mon, 2011-11-28 00:18

A few can be changed to lefty, I had a Penn 45 GLS converted for me , but that was many years ago.

I can fish left or right handed but with over heads i like left better, with bigger size reel's the options are sadly limited.

I wanted an overhead combo,

I wanted an overhead combo, but after being told that left hand overhead reels have to be ordered and are quite expensive, I choose to stick to spin reels..

Hi bud; nope - you either buy

Mon, 2011-11-28 07:03

Hi bud; nope - you either buy it in a left or right hand version. I have not seen any other conventional overhead reel that you can change between left and right like the eggbeaters. Better off to sell the reel and buy a left hand reel. As mentioned above - you can get L hand versions, but it depends on make and design. Some come as extra charge and some dont. Good luck with your venture.

You can convert penn senators

Mon, 2011-11-28 08:17

You can convert penn senators to LHW.. Have a 113h which i have had converted. These are "factory converted" or can be done DIY as they are all standard parts which are needed. (side plate, pinion etc)

There is another option is you want to go down the shimano TLD path. There's a guy over east who converts TLD's to left hand. Basically the reel is used backwards, so you push the lever drag to freespool and pull to increase drag. I think they manufacture a pinion gear to suit. Have had a TLD 25 and TLD 30a converted.

Abu left hand over heads

Mon, 2011-11-28 13:43

Abu make the  6500 and 7000 size reels in a left hand  , if you look them up type in Abu 6501 and   Abu 7001. I think you can also get all Avet reels in a  lefty.

LH overhead

Mon, 2011-11-28 14:14

the polanski can be converted from right to left but I would recomwnd that you not touch this reel as I have found it to be a waste of time and a clunker of a reel. I would speek to my local shop and order a lh abu or an avet as they are dedicated leftys that I know of and on average the abu was $19 more than the right hand model and the avet cost was on par for either right or left handed models and avet has a distributor here in Perth.
