Any one going out tommorow
Submitted by glack on Fri, 2012-07-13 15:13
I have been watching Seabreeze and getting all excited about heading out tommorow all week only to have my hopes crushed by BOM this afternoon with their prediction of 2-3metre swell tomorrow. I was thinking of heading out North of two rocks but I think she may get a bit hairy on a 3 metre swell. I have allways maintained a 2 metre limit going through there, I normally stretch to 2.5, but I think I need to draw the line at 3metres. Lets hope they revise it this arvo as all the other sites are still saying less than 2 metres. Is any one else heading out?

I wish I hadn't read that
Was planning the same a day out of two rocks. Had the day off to prep so I wasn't rushing tomorrow.
Must check the bom site now... Doh
Went out about a month ago in roughly 3 mtr swell, was an absolute washing machine. Last 3 drifts and had to head back in as both my Deckie and me were both kinda green.

Thanks for the offer Paul, I
Thanks for the offer Paul, I will see what the 4.30am report says. I will probably leave earlier if i go though. Do you agree with my rule of thumb ie. only go out in 2.5 meters or less and keep no shallower than 6m?
I also agree with you fishoron, they seem to have changed their categorizing a bit and I think it has resulted in more cautious predictions.

Mate if you comfortable with
Mate if you comfortable with 2.5then that is all that matters i would go in 4m but i know the area well and would not cross the banks until day light ,even a 2.5 m swell waves will be cracking on the shallow lumps and anything under 12m of water could have rollers .It only takes one and it happen fast and in the dark not good .have had a couple of close calls when crayfishing .Dont take any chances ,leaving early won't mean more fish just more risk.anyway good luck and might see you up the marina.

Well said Paul
You need to be super carefull with the early starts. I don't see the huge benefit from leaving in the dark.
Ran into Jessie and a friend at Cockburn ramp today , they had been squiding .
