350 Yammy!
biged, I had a look at them but was told very thirsty. I went for the new Yamaha 300hp V6, economical/out of the hole punch/plenty of topend!

My boss owns a Commodore
My boss owns a Commodore Marine 8 metre Abrolhos with a 350 yammi. Not a bad motor but a bit thirsty. We have a 300 Suzuki and thats better on fuel, top end speed is the same, different hull I know but the suzuki being lighter probably goes close to cancelling out the extra 50 ponies.
I`d look at a Suzuki or the new 300 v6 Yammi.

twin V8s
we have twin V8s on our 11m Naiad. Total weight is around 6 ton. Fuel usage depend on speed. For both engines it is 63lph at 20knt, 130lph at 33 knots andf 224lph at 41 knts. We went for 350 instead of 300 due to need to tow larger vessels. according to yamaha website there is a weight difference of 118kg between the 350 and 300. Website below for more info.
Very happy with the engines. we have done almost 500hrs since Oct last year and we have not had any issues at all. best thing is the electronic throttles, makes for excellent response when trimming in rough weather.

300s
We have twin 300 V8s on the new rescue boat and very happy with them. 62 litres and hour combined at 25 knots and 220 WOT at 47 knots, have since found out that the boat got up to 58 knots when commissioned but they slowed it down so would be interested to find out what the fuel usage was then. Wouldn't think it was much more than now considering what they did to slow it down.
Shark bay has twin 300 Suzies on their 10 metre Air rider and it chews the juice, 95 litres an hour at 25 knots and flat chat at 38knots and something like 300 litres an hour

Not doubting you mate but I`m
Not doubting you mate but I`m not sure how they could use 300 litres an hour, Ive only ever got 95 an hour at WOT with ours , thats 43 knots. Sounds like its a really inefficient hull.
It would be nice to know what hull biged is thinking of putting the 350 on.

marble, maybe considering
marble, maybe considering the new Haines Hunter 760R have you seen the "beast"
my options are
1 x 350HP
2 x 150HP
1 x 300HP
I like the idea of twin engines but combined weight they are around 112kg heavier than a single 300hp

Preference!
biged,
I thought the Yamaha 150hp 4s was approx 226kg so x2 = 452kg?
The Yahama 300hp 4s is approx 253kg so a big weight saving and I reckon the single 300 would be the go!
Nice boat that 760R
